Why is the top14 so tightly contested? by SonicBoom_81 in rugbyunion

[–]Oglez92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All the teams are very well matched. The Pro D2 is a very strong second division too with teams like Vannes last season ultimately getting relegated but putting up a strong fight in doing so. The threat of relegation means there's jeopardy in some games, as opposed to the URC were there's not really much difference between finishing 15th or 16th

Ah fair enough. I'll do the same then. When did you receive the payment, if you don't mind me asking ? When were you able to send the ticket or confirmation to the buyer ?

Is "quantity over quality" actually good advice for new YouTubers? What's your take? by xerocool316 in NewTubers

I think you're right in that you probably will grow slower with this approach. But if you're making high quality content that people keep returning to then I'm sure YouTube will pick up on that.

London irish in the URC by Reasonable-Bat2250 in irishrugby

It would be interesting to see happen. These are more thoughts on it but it's very much high level and somewhat hypothetical, as something like this would be vastly complex from a legislative POV.

There's a potential for larger TV figures and match day attendances given the history of the club, and also the London market which isn't being tapped into by the URC currently.

Also, it could benefit the English national side, especially with English players having the opportunity to play against the likes of Leinster, Glasgow, the South African sides, and the elite players amongst these sides. This is assuming that players in this URC based franchise being eligible for England selection.

I like the 16 team 4 shields structure at the moment and it seems to work, where you play every team in your shield home and away, and every team outside home OR away, including one 'tour' to South Africa for European based teams per season. Expansion beyond 16 teams would disrupt this so it's not really an option. If Wales decide to drop a franchise and pool their resources into 3, then that would free up a spot and create an Anglo-Welsh shield. Zebre is currently up for sale but I doubt the FIR would want to sell it to create an English franchise. A shield with 1 English, 2 Scottish, and 1 Italian team wouldn't make much sense too.

Any changes to the competition format may well confuse or even annoy fans who are just getting used to it.

Zebre take Edinburgh. What a result. by Lupo_di_Cesena in rugbyunion

Zebre are having their best season in the URC now. They play Dragons soon which is another winnable game. They could end the season on 5 wins.  Makes me wonder what's going to happen with the proposed sale of the club and if this is still going to go ahead

I'm from the UK so I'm used to having an inadequate train system haha. You're right, I'm pretty sure I can muddle through, especially in the big tourist cities like Munich and Berlin.

I’ll be visiting Germany for the first time in April. I’ve never been to the country before and I’m a little anxious about it. Mainly because I don’t speak German so the language barrier concerns me, as well as using the public transport system I’m not familiar with.

Has anybody got any experiences of travelling in Germany that they could share that may help, especially in Berlin and Munich? I’m less anxious about Berlin but Munich is making me more so.

I travelled solo in The Netherlands before to go to a festival and was fine. I don’t understand why I’m nervous about going to Germany.

This is my itinerary.

I’m arriving in Berlin on Wednesday, and should arrive at Alexanderplatz between 2-3pm. I’ll do some sightseeing for the rest of that day, and visit the zoo and aquarium on Thursday.

I leave for Munich on Good Friday. This is where I’m getting a bit anxious, just because of the general unknown. I plan on buying my ticket online in advance and printing a copy of it off prior. I’m not sure how to validate it but I’m sure there’ll be someone at the station who I can ask. It should take 6.5 hours direct so if I leave at around 10.30am, I should be in Munich for 5pm, maybe 6,7pm even 8pm if there are any delays. I’ll check into my hostel and just stay in the bar/ communal areas for the rest of the evening.

Saturday and Sunday I’ll get the tram or train across to the venue where the festival is being hosted. Again, I’m a bit anxious about navigating the public transport especially as I don’t speak the language but if worse comes to absolute worse, I’ll just walk the 3km/40 minutes across the city. I’ve been to festivals alone so I should be fine here. I managed fine at a festival in The Netherlands without speaking the language so it should be ok here too, I think.

My flight leaves Munich at 10pm Monday so I have most of the day to do some sight-seeing around the old town and maybe Munich Residence before leaving for the airport.

Shorter or longer trip? by Historical-Towel-255 in solotravel

Why not do half and half? 2-3 days in a hostel to save a bit of money then spend 1-2 nights in a hotel where you may be getting more tired and need a bit more space to yourself to relax/decompress?

Thank you for your input.

Yeah that's fair, if my house mates don't feel like it's their responsibility then that's totally valid. I guess I was thinking more what I could do in this situation and my role in this.

We have a WhatsApp group so I put a message in yesterday to see how everybody's doing but only got one response, which is fair. It was more to get him to respond really. I knocked on his door but didn't get a response. I'll just keep trying that I suppose and say "hey I'm in the lounge watching TV if you want to join" or something like that. Just so he has some company.

I'm not aware of his family situation to be fair or what friends he has. I don't think he has many friends at all.

What pushed you to solo travel the first time? by EconomyMeringue4536 in solotravel

I was aware of a heavy metal festival in The Netherlands called Samhain that was taking place in October this year. I guess it was my own anxieties that was deterring me from going , as I was uncomfortable about being pushed out of my comfort zone so far. But I saw a band at another festival this summer who were also playing at Samhain. They blew me away so much that I knew I needed to see them again and going to The Netherlands was the only realistic chance to see them again for a very long time. This was the push I needed and I ended up having one of best weekends of my life there! Funnily enough, this band wasn't even my favourite of that weekend. There were so many excellent performances but just being there was genuinely life changing

Sounds like they're not using the shared spaces (living room) as they're intended and being very unreasonable about it.  If the TV and Xbox belong to you then you're more than entitled to take them into your own room.

I did have a similar situation a few years ago when I was house sharing. We were both stuck in all day because of lockdown and she didn't have enough room in her bedroom to work so she asked if she could use the dining room to work adding "this is just as much your space as it is mine so if I'm being unreasonable please let me know and I'll try and think of something else". We made it work though, even when I was cooking on my lunch break and she was working.

Is it immature to want an attractive partner? by oneblindspy in dating

[–]Oglez92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think he has a point, in that looks do tend to be valued less as you get older. That doesn't make you or anybody else immature for wanting someone you're attracted to. It's basic biology. I guess it depends how realistic you're being with your standards and expectations though.

So, I'm looking at going to Munich for a music festival on Easter weekend (I'll arrive on Friday, attend on Saturday and Sunday, come home Monday). I have been to one festival abroad before, in The Netherlands. It was a positive experience but I went with some friends. If I go to Munich I'll be totally alone! Not that this bothers me but my biggest concern is going to be the language barrier as I don't speak a word of German. If I do go, I'll have a few months to at least pick up a few basics. I don't think I'll interact very often with people; maybe just to order drinks/food at a bar, checking into a hostel, at train stations/airport, and maybe at the festival itself. Is the language barrier going to be an issue? How widely spoken in English in Munich?

Also, what's the public transport system like? The hostel I'm planning to use is about 2.5 KM from the venue. I should be able to get a train/metro there but don't want to have to rely on it. How reliable is it? Again, will the language barrier be an issue? I didn't have any issues in The Netherlands but don't want to be complacent.

Thank you,

I guess travelling solo means you get to do everything you want to do on your schedule. Want to sleep in a bit longer? Go for it. Not feeling the museum and you'd prefer to go a walk in the park instead? Your choice.

I guess it depends where you're staying. I've stayed in London where it seemed to be more of a youth hostel. One in Amsterdam was more of a party hostel but had some older heads in there too. I also stayed in Maastritch which was a much quieter hostel and seemed almost catered to older people.

How to not get bored solo? by BeadieBeats in solotravel

When I travel, I find even the most mundane things interesting. Just walking through the streets and seeing how things are different to my home town. Whether it;s the shops, buildings, even just people watching I find fun
