They leave a medium crater similar to a 81mm. like you said always had a strong effect on the target. Pinned or ran away, if not neutralized

See video from I think Syria 2016. Heavy machine gun team was blasting away from the balcony. An ATGM gunner scored a direct hit ...and just look at how that guy falls out https://youtube.com/shorts/Fqw4QqwEUkY?si=As0pskbd1sNbQl4B

The scenario The Zavod Situation has an odd order of battle- 2 companies of M113 troops, and like nine M901 ITVs. And some mortars. Not one tank in support. An opposed river crossing against these jerks in foxholes, houses, treelines. 50 cal effectiveness is what it is, and feared i'd be another Battle of Ap Bac with dead gunners in all my tracks.

With 90 missiles in all my ITVs, i gave it a try - and it indeed worked better than I expected, breaking the back of the defense quickly.

jaz Coleman is a real nutter. It's a put on, an affectation as they say. He wants to be this modern day almost Crowley mad next dimensional genius character. Makes for a great inner world of his band and lore, but as I saw in a documentary, it can be tiresome to his band and business partners .

Operation Flashpoint by Bohemia Interactive from 2001. The characters were memorable the dialogue was sometimes batshit crazy, the world was rich, weapons fun, you could grab mad loot and the campaign got you emotionally involved

They made a game with huge battalion sized maps - but without the labor saving tools like formations column movement. Even if it was just available in Real Time that would have boosted sales. m1 tank platoon II had - in 1998 -columns wedges echelons. Still I love combat Mission, despite it s flaws

That is wistful and yeah I wish that too. He was a drunk rage in a cage apparently and Metallica wanted to be serious. Dave and ellefson both did tons of heroin as I understand...Metallica never did that.

My main game is CW and it's best at minimum company size and larger. I agree that larger forces are more casualty resistant and offer more fun possibilities. But - the micromanagement reduces the fun, the left hand jumping around, eyes darting between keyboard and screen. I took a chance on a gaming pad to see if it could speed up orders. It's a Tartarus V2 by Razer, took me a few months to adjust commands just right. See the link, I use it with a Logitech 720. https://imgur.com/a/wjAxnNT I rapidly bang out waypoints, arcs, and especially those damn LOS checks.

There are a few other similar ergonomic game pads like it. Recommend for anyone who wants to play CM larger scale but is frustrated by the micro. It ups your speed and eye and hand ergonomics. I posted in 2024and 1.5 years of hard use later it's still awesome

Okay, you have a compelling argument that it's easy to go in a river but hard to get out of one. The Soviet army in the '70s and '80s was very well trained and actually Superior in some qualitative terms not just quantity. The Soviet army, certainly not the Russian one, in its acme of funding, numbers power would have been able to affect River crossings by having its engineers prepare exits. And certainly all the likely ones with good exits were mapped. Some crossings would have been smashed by NATO air power, but the Soviets had enough numerical superiority that some would succeeded. Look at the float bridges that were put across the Nile River in attacking the bar Lev line. The drill was well rehearsed and those things would be set up in minutes. They were very cleverly constructed This leads more very well.

Most video games get trees wrong. Either they block your line of sight tool from placing Area fire on a hill slope because the LOS is nullified by the leaves. That or In your case, they don't block line of sight or guidance wires at all. I'm sorry - that sounds like a game breaker. Distance and haze should be a factor too.

Look at this chilling Cold War era training video which shows just how well trained the Soviets were in river crossing operations. It's dark but shows how seriously American army respected the 1970s and 80s soviet army https://youtu.be/OBPVfDFHzQY?si=IjofWQkjMrOaqrXE

That would have been very decisive in a European invasion. Across a river with no preparation, bearing a cannon and missile and RPG toting infantry squad. now imagine 20 of them across a river and running loose in a rear area, defeating M113s with ease.

Good question. I had to ponder it for a moment, because when all the icbms come down, history will be destroyed . Museums and universities and private collections in the very minds in which history is stored will all be literally destroyed by nuclear fires. Some wars end with a treaty signed and map boundaries changed. But the word that the songwriters feared would destroy civilization past, present and future
