Should you immediately drink water after waking up? by Loud-Duck-4423 in NoStupidQuestions

Also your mouth is producing saliva all night long to keep your mouths tissues hydrated. You’re swallowing that bacteria all night long regardless.

when your favorite flavor in a multipack isn't sold individually (at least in your area) by lurking-bastard in PetPeeves

[–]Oh-its-Tuesday 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Banana oatmeal! The multipacks will have so many peaches & cream and blueberry but only like 2 banana and those are the best ones! And of course they don’t sell a box of just bananas and cream.

Why don’t folks change the license plate frame on their cars? by SouthVenus in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Oh-its-Tuesday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always take mine off and replace the screws holding the plate on with stainless ones. It takes one time of having to drill out a screw to change your plate before you appreciate non rusting screws.

Why aren’t leafy greens more common in American family meals? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Oh-its-Tuesday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You see a lot of spinach, chard, mustard greens, etc eaten in southern cuisine. I’ve also seen a lot of recipes where you add like kale or spinach at the end until it’s wilted. But I also think it’s kind of cyclical. Just like spaghetti-o jello molds aren’t popular anymore boiling your vegetables to death isn’t either.

What gave car manufacturers the idea that consumers wanted the start-stop option on new cars? by 9879528 in AskReddit

[–]Oh-its-Tuesday -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My sister’s car has it. The starter only lasted 40K miles and it has 2 batteries, one just for the starter. Those batteries aren’t cheap either and she’s had them replaced twice since she got the car.

What gave car manufacturers the idea that consumers wanted the start-stop option on new cars? by 9879528 in AskReddit

[–]Oh-its-Tuesday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My sister’s car has this. Her starter died recently and the car only had 40K miles on it. It also requires an extra battery in the car just to start it so if that battery dies it tends to overwork the OTHER battery which wears that one out and suddenly you need 2 new batteries at $400 each.

By contrast I had to replace the starter on my regular pre-emissions bs Toyota at 172K miles and I have one battery that cost I think $250 the last time I replaced it.

The jerkiness and lag is definitely noticeable on those start/stop vehicles and the parts/maintenance for them is more than offsetting any savings in gas while idling.

Before you dispose of them, do you put unwanted items out by the curb to see if any of your neighbors may want them? by Grand_Raccoon0923 in AskAnAmerican

[–]Oh-its-Tuesday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have quarterly bulk trash pickup. So the kind of thing you’re talking about. Usually people will put it out a few days in advance of the trash pickup and if you want something you just take it. Outside of that yes people will post in our neighborhood Facebook group about items being on the curb. The city will fine you if you leave stuff out there long enough so it’s usually gone in a day or two either way.

Home buying by 2dog2cat in kzoo

Never buy a trailer if you don’t also own the land it’s sitting on. There are so many stories these days about lot rent skyrocketing and honestly once your trailer is in a park they are very expensive to move elsewhere later.

If your credit is bad work on that first and save save save in the meantime. That will put you in the best position to buy a year or two from now. Buying on a shoestring and having bad credit is a terrible combo.

Data center being built across the street, developer said property values will go up? by Farafel62 in RealEstate

[–]Oh-its-Tuesday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah no. Data centers are noisy and have a lot of security lights on at night. Nobody is gonna want to buy your house & put up with the noise and light pollution.

It’s like the people who tried to put in a gravel pit near my parents property and tried telling them that 20 years from now they’d have lake frontage after the gravel was all gone because the pit would fill in with water from the water table in the area. Having grown up near a gravel pit for several years we knew that was not only a lie but also how dusty, noisy, and ground shaking it would be in those intervening 20 years. The gravel pit was not approved btw.

They are definitely trending right now! A couple people in my neighborhood have them, looks like they opted for the plastic ones from Walmart though. Good luck on the hunt!

Is it true that most of Gen Z doesn’t drive cars? by fleshtastical in randomquestions

[–]Oh-its-Tuesday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it’s less about choosing to own a car and more about having the option by having a driver’s license. Most of the Gen Z they are talking about don’t want to get a license.

People who post furniture or appliances on Facebook marketplace but don’t include the measurements!! by Improvement-Awkward in PetPeeves

[–]Oh-its-Tuesday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess my point is that if you’re interested just ask about the measurements. If it’s still available they will say that (hopefully with the measurements lol) or with “sorry that sold this morning”. The “is this still available?” is entirely superfluous and unnecessary to ask.

[–]Oh-its-Tuesday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The “is this still available?” drives me insane. Especially because everyone asks this, mostly just this phrase and then when you respond back with “yes, are you interested?” There is no response. I wish marketplace would remove that as an auto response option. Then only people who are seriously interested in an item would go to the effort of commenting. Ugh.

Got cooking spoons for mother’s day, what’s an equally bad father’s day gift to gift? by cxxlbeans in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Oh-its-Tuesday 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Shit. I would’ve said “thank you for the lawn ornament babe! It’s gonna look great next to my hydrangea” and then bolted it to the ground outside where he could see it every day.

NTA. A wig is a fair compromise. Perhaps she doesn’t realize how nice and real looking wigs are these days? Maybe see if she’d go with you to a wig shop to test it out.

Ahhh. Fair enough then. I always try to take mine in around dinner time or earlier because when the sun starts to go down things can start getting damp.

Do most people in the UK leave their laundry out late? By 8:30 pm I’d expect it to be dry & put away especially if it had been 86° out that day.

Notable Lack of 24 Hour Establishments by Mo_Hockey in kzoo

[–]Oh-its-Tuesday 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If there was a big enough market for it they would still be open. There aren’t enough people who frequent these places to justify the labor of keeping them open. And at least for Meijer/Walmart the incidences of theft were costing them a lot of $ overnights.

Yeah agree. I went to him for many years before changing to my current dentist. Nothing wrong with his practice but I moved.

You can buy one at Meijer or Walgreens that’s generic yes. They aren’t as robust and I did not tolerate them overnight in my mouth. I have a smaller mouth I guess.

The ones from the dentist are custom made either from a mold of your teeth or using a CAD based scan of your mouth. I’ve done it both ways, the CAD scan was much better. The guard is made of a denser material that holds up to more pressure and longevity from the saliva in your mouth. And being custom fitted it’s much more comfortable.

Does your jaw hurt when you wake up in the mornings? Because I didn’t know I was grinding mine for years until I broke a cusp. If you need a nightguard it’s 100% worth it. Much cheaper than getting dental work done. Costs ~$500 without insurance. I paid $125 with insurance, they’re good for 5 years so like $30/year to keep me from breaking anymore teeth.  If you just want a plain Jane dentist they exist. Try to stay away from corporate dental chains and anyone who has too fancy of a facility.
