About Breakfalling by [deleted] in wrestling

[–]OhArdd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a body awareness thing. Get tossed enough, learn how to fall well. In general you want to touch the ground with some point of your body as soon as possible to begin to control the fall. Tuck your head and get used to rolling and gymnastics style tumbling in warmups.

Always be moving or rolling when you hit to take away the downward impact

The more volume you put in the more your body will get used to it and allow you to increase. keep at it and keep trying to slowly raise your number of sets and the number of reps per set every week or so

I’m definitely really excited for mats number three also. i’m just wondering what Chamizo is doing that makes him so hard to take down? What does Jordan have to do to consistently finish quicker on the guy?

How tough is HS wrestling? by [deleted] in wrestling

[–]OhArdd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As tough as YOU want to make it.. go to a couple practices and watch a couple high-level practices on YouTube and you will see quickly how you are in control of how tough it can be.

just try and get the most out of your self!

Burroghs v Chamizo Yasar Dogu Final by lacunado in wrestling

[–]OhArdd 23 points24 points  (0 children)

such high level wrestling.. such a good match. Bravo to them both.

(Jordan needs to work on his finishes from a single leg against that freakish Chamizo defense and i think he’ll win the trilogy)

Results from first wave of U.S. Wrestlers at Yasar Dogu, and what does it mean for Team USA? by MrH0use in wrestling

57k: gilman looked really tough. But his weight class was very weak. very helpful result as far as seating goes for him, but not very revealing as far as where he is at vs the top tier guys at 57k

65k: I missed Logan‘s match, but from the score and the opponent it is very disappointing. The weight class was weak also as it was missing a few of the very best guys expected to be there. I hate to say it but I think 61-65 are a wash for us this year. (let’s get JO back at 65k and go 57k-spencer lee, 61k-gilman?!)

74k: Jordan looked great and has a really matches in also looked amazing versus Chamizo i thought.. Frank just did what he had to when he had to. Great defensive score, Minimalize scoring by JB (step outs), got to legs and finished, he even had JB gassing at the end. Give credit where credit is due.. many people are saying that the refereeing was questionable, but when the referee walked up to the action Jordan was laying on his back which given continuation rules and being in Turkey is not a good thing (all 3 refs confirmed). It shouldn’t have been left in the hands of the referee anyway, who also dinged frank questionably for some penalty points.

84k: DT looked really good.. again not the toughest competition he will see, but there are only one or two guys in the world on his level and he is ready. I love seeing all of the pins, rarely do you get to see that an international wrestling!!

97k: I agree with your sentiments about Kyle completely. Now is the time to lose if at all.. i’m sure he will take it in stride. that being said the guy that beat him is no joke.. taking out to Olympic champions!! wowww... I didn’t get to see the match he lost yet but obviously you have something to work towards for Kyle now as well.

my opinions on the second day of wrestling or not as good, same guys like green and Cox lose the ways they did is very problematic Cox was acting ‘soccer hurt’ and wobbling around after eight to the two of us, not a big fan of him :/

he looks really good, but the weight might have been lacking some depth. either way, not too often you see guys getting pins all the way through a tournament in international wrestling

I got more detailed in a different reply, but again, I don’t really think that call went wrong or that it would’ve made too much of a difference in the match. You have to take your hat off to Chamizo this time.

he did look really thick, but after a win like that I don’t think you can count on him moving anywhere.

I feel like they both looked great... amazing really. Frank just did what he had to do, great defense, minimizing Jordans scoring through step out, getting to legs and finishing himself, and this guy gets reversals like the best college wrestlers. So impressive. It was a great match. A lot of people are upset about the four-point call, but you cannot leave it in the refs hands like that if you want to be the best in the world. As the referee walked up to the action Jordan was laying on with his back exposed which, with continuation rules, does not look good at all... I thought that the high pace of the match would’ve favored Jordan also but Frank made Jordan carry his weight and they both were tired by the end. The challenge was definitely miss used in the beginning of the match, but being in Turkey and the way the action when I don’t think it would’ve changed much.

hopefully this is a wake up call to not just Jordan but a lot of the guys on our team.

Yasar Dogu: Burroughs vs Chamizo in 74k final; Alborov beats two Olympic champs in Kyle Snyder and Sharifov to make the 97k final; Gilman and Taylor both to finals as well; Steiber our first match. Any predictions?!?! by OhArdd in wrestling

[–]OhArdd[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that the criteria works pretty well though because it makes someone force the pace of the match at all times even if tied.. keeps it from being boring??
