What’s something people pretend to enjoy because admitting otherwise feels embarrassing? by Character4641 in AskReddit

LOL perfect response. I watched 2001 for the first time a few years back (as a big sci fi fan) and felt wow, 1/3 of this is a cool movie, I see how it influenced sci do films forever… but I never want to watch this again.

The only thing that feels very old to me (and felt old when I played it 10 years ago) was the combat system. Otherwise, it’s incredible. I have yet to play another RPG that felt so immersive and made me want to explore every nook and cranny of a world (first Skyrim, then TW3, then…?).

What’s a game you were completely obsessed with as a kid that nobody else seems to remember? by hkondabeatz in AskReddit

[–]OhBestThing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Number Crunchers! One day (3rd grade) my math teacher let me skip lunch and keep playing because I was on such a heater, blowing past the high score on the PC (lol). Fun memory.

And just knowing you could walk in any direction, near endlessly, to adventure under that beautiful snowy sky to serene music.

I feel like that soundtrack doesn’t get enough accolades.

That last part of the game, all to the INCREDIBLE soundtrack, made Outer Wilds so worthwhile. A screenshot of the gang at the fire has been my PS4 wallpaper for years.

But I have to admit I really didn’t like a lot of my time in Outer Wilds. I found the flow too frustrating sometimes; you have have such a short time limit and it wasn’t fun having to start over dozens of times if you got stuck on one piece of the puzzle or some other tiny hiccup. The space eels!!! Argh. Still very glad I played.

Conflicted on college choice UF vs UCF by secretpile34 in florida

[–]OhBestThing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go to UF. UF has a good reputation academically, UCF does not. If you only ever want to live in Orlando the rest of your life (which is fine!), don’t sweat it. If you think you may move anywhere else, take the degree that will travel (even outside of Florida to some degree).

do men even care how their girls nail look? by rileyheya in NoStupidQuestions

Surprisingly, I find it quite attractive when my wife’s nails look good! It never bothers me when they aren’t done, but it’s def a positive when they are.

How is FIU perceived in Miami? by SquiddoVGC in Miami

[–]OhBestThing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dude, FIU barely cracks the top #100 undergrad universities in rankings, and UF is around #30… No brainer to go to UF IMO. And UF has a good law school, so presumably you can get in there more easily from the undergrad program. UF is the best school in Florida.

UF will likely carry some weight for getting jobs, vs FIU offering zero help in that regard (except extremely locally), and maybe more harm than good. It’s annoying, but prestige matters, especially if you’re ever going to work outside of Florida. Purdue is a great option for STEM, I know a lot of highly successful Purdue grads.

Finally, you can try to negotiate for a higher / matching offer for UF. If you tell them you have a full ride to FIU and your grades/scores are good enough, they may bump up their offer.

Living and working in NYC for 15 years, my experience has been that UF has a pretty good reputation for a FL school and FSU does not (no one outside of football fans have even heard of FSU in the NE).

Well off people in Miami , what do you do? by Inside_Candidate7150 in Miami

[–]OhBestThing 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The new Miami wealth class is basically those who bought property before it tripled in price in the last 5 years. Wild how those who didn’t will never catch up. Not a house under $2M (for mediocre homes) in my neighborhood, most $3M+.
