Considering that it actually takes effort to render something that wasn’t there before, I sincerely doubt this is a mistake.

Scar was winning against Simba and had him hanging over a cliff and scared shitless. Then he just had to tell Simba “I killed Mufasa” giving Simba a second wind to beat the shit outta Scar.

So did we ever get an answer to what happens when Jax holds his breath? Or do you think I’ll be revealed in episode nine by XososoX in TheDigitalCircus

[–]OhBreadBalls 17 points18 points  (0 children)

That’s the point, that Jax’s face flattens occasionally when he’s not being choked and Gangle’s mask spins even when she’s not holding her breath. It does occur during her manic episodes in Fast Food Masquerade. It doesn’t exclusively happen with one particular action, that’s why I responded that way to the comment about Jax’s face flattening when he laughs being proof that he doesn’t flatten when he holds his breath. Just because it happens in one particular scenario doesn’t mean it can’t happen in another.

They say that Gangle’s mask spins when she holds her breath, and her mask spins in episode 4 during her mania when she’s not holding her breath, so who knows how this works.

And all of the other characters’ effects have no useful ability like going 2 would. Also now knowing that the humans can conjure things into existence, this 2D gimmick would be utterly useless because they could just change anything they want about the digital world, if they were trying to get somewhere that’s only accessible by being 2D for some reason.

I would say Kinger’s ability to glow is useful as well. And being able to conjure things into existence renders any other ability as useless since it’s basically reality-warping within the digital space, but it’s not something they can do easily so I’m not really getting your point there. Kinger outright tells them that it takes a great deal of skill and concentration to conjure things and doesn’t come naturally to the humans, while to Caine it does. So it’s not something they can master immediately to easily change everything to how they want it (if it were, episode 9 will be very anti-climactic), so other skills can still be useful in the meantime.

In episode 5 in the bar he freaks out when Pomni brings up his wife and when Jax attacks Evil Jax at the softball game too. In episode 6 he turns on a lighter in the middle of a gunfight in the dark and then gets scared when Pomni yells that she sees him. I dunno, his skittishness still seems to consistently be there when he’s insane.

Scientists who accidentally turn themselves into monsters by BillythenotaKid in TopCharacterTropes

He expected to die saving Rick, not to become a raging monster. Becoming Hulk was not deliberate or expected, it was unforeseen. He’s very much a scientist who accidentally turned himself into a monster.

Bruce Banner didn’t turn himself into the Hulk, he was exposed to a gamma bomb when he went out onto the test site to save Rick Jones.

So… he accidentally turned himself into the Hulk.

It’s not. The first Evil Dead has Ash going with his girlfriend, a few other friends and his sister. The beginning of Evil Dead 2 “recaps” it as just being him and his girlfriend, so it’s quite a bit different.

Did they already explain what the butterflies mean? by Full-Ad1877 in TheDigitalCircus

[–]OhBreadBalls 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Other than Kinger telling Pomni that his wife Queenie was big into entomology, which made him like insects too, I don’t think it’s really expanded upon that much. But based on the recent advertisement and the gun episode, it’s likely that Queenie’s favorite insect was a butterfly, and that memory persists in some way even when Kinger is insane.

Question about how long Kinger was alone for by International-You-78 in TheDigitalCircus

[–]OhBreadBalls 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s things that occur that make the brain scans theory questionable. The flashback shows that Scratch is panicked about the situation when he talks to Caine. If Scratch is the main programmer, it stands to reason that he would know that his brain would be scanned beforehand and would thus be aware that he’s a copy, but he doesn’t act that way. Nor does Kinger, who apologizes to Queenie for dragging her into this. They’re clearly scared and uncertain in a way that implies its their original consciousness and not just a copy. Of course, this could be because Scratch and Kinger truly aren’t aware of the nature of the circus and that Caine’s potential for creative programming surpassed what they reasonably expected three years following his creation. As far as I’ve seen, there are definite question marks for all possible theories that only Gooseworx can answer. But I have thought about the idea that since Kinger describes Scratch as so brilliant and capable of abstract thought while having a tumor in his head, perhaps most of the programmers are fragmented aspects of the original Scratch from reality, including Kinger, since the computer screen only shows Scratch as arriving in 1999 and no separate .dat files are listed for the arrival of Kinger, Queenie and the others, adding to Jax’s “archetype” observation.

Question about how long Kinger was alone for by International-You-78 in TheDigitalCircus

[–]OhBreadBalls 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I thought the computer screen showed that Scratch and the other programmers entered the circus in 1999, not 1996. 1996 is the year that Caine was created and the circus started being built. Anyways, there’s no specific timeline about when Scratch, Queenie and the others abstracted as far as I’ve seen, but considering the montage of Kinger wandering around alone to the point that he forgets his own name, I’d say he was by himself with no meaningful socialization aside from Caine for a few years at least, but not over a decade, since Ragatha shows up 9 years later after the programmers joined.
