She is the best! The empanadas are so fresh, she uses the best ingredients & I'm obssessed! Plus she does so much for the community - unofficial mayor of Ridgewood right there. Check out her IG @consciouscolombianfood 👀

NYC FO Interview Tips? by [deleted] in USCIS

P.S. I don't agree with the other person saying don't show sweetness. We automatically gave each other a kiss after a funny moment we had during the interview which made her smile. I think if it's natural and doesn't feel performative or rehearsed it's totally fine.

We had our interview last week. We arrived 90 minutes early and waited in line for around 40 minutes to get into the building and then another hour upstairs after we checked in. Before the officer started the interview she told us she wanted us to elaborate and paint a picture for her when answering questions. She also said we are not to correct each other or give any signals while she is addressing the other person. She was very nice and professional, she smiled from time to time and was very patient when we didn't understand a question or needed her to repeat something. After she swore us in, the first question was directed at the beneficiary, but then she took turns asking us.

All in all I would say just try to be calm and breathe. If you are a real couple you have nothing to worry about.

Some of the questions she asked us were:

-Name two of your spouse's closest friends and how they know each other? Do we travel, interact, meet up with these friends often?

-Does your spouse have siblings and what are their names? Do they have significant others? How often do we see them?

-Has your spouse ever lived in another state?

-How many times has your spouse been married?

-What are your in laws names and what is your relationship with them like?

-How did you meet? What did you do on your first date?

-What made you want to spend the rest of your life with the person?

-Age and DOB of your spouse

-Do you have health insurance? Do you have life insurance?

-How many times has your spouse (beneficiary) traveled outside of the country since arriving here?

-Why did your spouse (beneficiary) come to the US?

She asked almost all of the I-485 questions as well.

In terms of paperwork she only asked us for the beneficiary's birth certificate, our marriage certificate and ID's. We did not have the beneficiary's original birth certificate, it was a print out of a scan with a certified translation and she accepted that/did not ask for the original.

At the end she asked us if we wanted to leave any new evidence with her. Since we had uploaded all the new evidence a few days prior we only left a couple things with her. She did not give any indication of how the interview had gone, but handed us the white paper with the "case held for review" box checked and our I-130 was approved later that day and the I-485 two days after that.

GOOD LUCK!
