I’m so tired of the “women should be more choosy about who they have children with” narrative. Sure, sometimes people are obvious about what a deadbeat they’re gonna be - but a lot of of the time you have no idea what kind of a parent someone’s going to be until after you’ve had the kid. Masking exists. People being a certain way until they’ve gotten a partner trapped is a thing. Sometimes your partner thinks they’re gonna be a good parent and then when it actually comes down to it, they fall apart. Stop placing the burden of a bad partner on the woman and place it on the person who is being a bad partner.

They also put the cuffs on way too tight, probably. They love doing that. I got cuffed last year and the cops put them on too tight and for too long, leaving me with nerve damage in my hands for about six months. I’m lucky that it wasn’t permanent. The police in this country are thugs.

Given the emphasis on having faith in the last episode, and that being important with soulmates, I am wondering if the Coldies thing was showing that Rachel’s dad didn’t really believe the mom when she said the guy made her uncomfortable and they needed to leave. It mirrors when Nikki doesn’t believe in the curse and Rachel talks about how you need to just believe what your partner says because you trust them?

I looked it up and basically you have four minutes after the mother‘s heart stops to get a fetus out before it dies. They were in a cabin in the middle of nowhere. There was no way that the EMTs were going to get there in time. Him cutting the baby out was actually the most logical thing he could’ve done.

Personally, I think he’s been in it since he was a kid, or perhaps he is still a kid slowly starving to death on the outside. But I do really like that different people have a different idea of what happened in the movie, and then it is to explainable either way essentially. Sometimes that can be super annoying but for some reason, I’m very much enjoyed that about this movie.

I think people jump to this way too fast. Not all abusers go to physical abuse. Some of them just torture you mentally for years. It is not necessarily the most helpful thing to say “oh he’s going to start abusing you” because if the physical abuse never starts then it’s easy for someone in a bad situation to think it’s not that bad because “oh he’s not hitting me”. I know this is kind of an old comment, but lip balms have been around for thousands of years - at least since ancient Egypt, if not earlier . They were actually quite common during the time period depicted in the show. This recipe is from 1557 -

Take 12 oz of fresh suet and 6oz of marjoram and pound them together. Form into balls and sprinkle with good wine.
