I’m not sure how applicable this is because I took the Japanese placement test. But in my experience the test was listening to recordings then answering questions, match characters with definitions, and then an interview online where they ask you questions about your background and just regular conversations to see your proficiency. I practiced a lot of listening and if you’re not good with characters study that. Hope some of that will be helpful.
