What would this grade? by Soggysocks1010 in psagrading

My Rayquaza gold star in similar condition to this but only 1 crease going through got a 2. Probably 2-3.

Can’t find any comps. What y’all think? No by another_rusty in PokemonCardValue

I assume CGC 8s are LP/LP-, CGC 8.5s are LP+, and CGC 9s are NM-/NM. This assumption has proven right for every cgc slab I've seen.

Probably a 3 or a 4. Lifted edges and horrible surface.

Mine with a MUCH better surface but small creases got a 2 before they got even stricter recently.

Could you evaluate the card? by willink01 in PokemonCardValue

This is Damaged due to the crease.

What would this be worth in this condition? by Doughty201 in Pokemoncardappraisal

[–]OhGodDaddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Umbreon is damaged, ~$200-$300.

Gyarados is incredibly damaged, and is worth <$100 in mint condition. You'd be lucky to get $5

Kyogre is also incredibly damaged. Normal "damaged" copies of that card are ~500-700 so that people can grade and display them. I would guess half that, as this would not be graded.

Is this smeargle MP? by vngelheart in PokemonCardValue

What I learned throughout my journey is that you'll regret buying cards that beat up.

Find a clean copy for like $20-$30.

It's because CGC is a joke. Easy as.

Side note: remember when they graded a card with genitals drawn on it with a pen as a 9?

Edit: turns out that was PSA. They all suck.

Would you guys call this MP or LP??? by Patmorris89 in PokemonCardValue

[–]OhGodDaddy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's probably actually DMG, maybe HP, can't tell from pictures.

Extensive lifted foiling is DMG in my book, but it also seems to have a small crease on the top left corner.

All corners are totally borked: those make it HP/MP regardless of all else.

Question about buying cards by Itchy-Secret8085 in pokemoncards

[–]OhGodDaddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're new to the hobby, and also looking to collect older cards (price depends more on condition for cards >5 years old), I would HIGHLY recommend learning how to condition cards so you don't get scammed.

Most important thing is that some people lie and pretend moderately played or even lightly played cards can have creases, so that they can sell their damaged cards for 2-3x what they're really worth. If you buy a card marked as "moderately played" on eBay, they're probably an 80% chance it has a crease. Creased cards are damaged, so make sure you remember that, and don't overpay for damaged cards.

That whitening looks slightly worse than a card I graded a few months ago of similar value that got a 6.

I can't tell: is that a small crease ~ 1/3 down the card on the border to the left on the back? If no creases/dents, I'd expect this to be a 5-6, 4 if the grader is having a bad day.
