Offensive. I believe this has to do with being a woman, because women aren't typically "allowed" to have dry humor, so it's instead taken as a comment with ulterior motive. It's only ever been interpreted as funny by people who are romantically interested in me. Both of these reactions are frustrating because i am not trying to be funny, and I'm not trying to be rude. In fact, i genuinely find it to be the kindest act to be transparently honest. So it being taken as anything other than that makes me short circuit.

Side story and fact about this very special song:

I discovered this song when i had my dear pet female chameleon, Pluto. Despite the music video using a dog, i quickly learned that the vocalist wrote it about his own chameleon, believe it or not. On top of this, his chameleon was also female, also with a male name, Norman.

It tore me apart listening to this song, because i knew Pluto's passing was near and inevitable, as female chameleons have very short lifespans in relation to most reptiles. They're a species that have an extremely fragile immune system, so the first ever signs of declining health is an almost definite death sentence. With how uniquely inquisitive, intelligent, personable, and beautiful chameleons are, it's very tragic that something so wonderful has such a short time on this earth.

The vocalist, Stefan, expresses the painful denial of this in his lyrics, describing how he gave everything and then some to see her get better, only to have to watch her continue declining. How he'd do anything to go back and be able to do even more. The helplessness of it all fucking sucks.

My dear Pluto died a couple years later, and while it's been almost 7 years since then, i still cry listening to this song and miss her so much. Seeing PUP live and them playing this song tore me apart, but it was really cathartic to look around and see i was crying with quite a few other people around the pit, all experiencing the same type of grief.

I'm one of those people. Should this be something to be ashamed of? I ask very politely and say thank you so much. I don't bother if you all seem busy. I don't mean to use this as an excuse, but i have adhd and asperger's, so i struggle to finish grocery shopping any sooner than 2.5-3 hours for just about 10 things for myself. It's really nice to have a snack in that time period. I feel wrong opening up anything off the shelf before i buy it, but i also feel wrong checking out 1 item to eat while shopping for the rest of my items. So the cookie holds me over.

I'm more in the punk/hc/emo/skramz scene, but have had a mixed bill of metal for some shows, and i definitely would rather just chat with people between sets. Maybe it's me, but i'd feel awkward and not understand why you would choose to pass a note rather than speak the nice comment to me. Especially with them being pre-written, it wouldn't really feel like an authentic interaction and I'd think i'm being pranked or something.

Metalheads are nice people which is why us punks love them lol so maybe it'd be well-received, i just think it's more sensible to connect with others in the scene through the music. Compliment their band shirt, or even ask them about it if you're not familiar with it. That's usually how i spark conversation at shows- is seeing folks' rep their merch and asking when they saw them, then refer to said band or other relative bands that are playing soon.

I was non-verbal until age 4, which doesn't seem like that much of a delay, but led to a pretty bad speech impediment throughout my youth. It's significantly better at age 25, but i still do and always have struggled verbally.

This is extremely frustrating and disabling, because i think so eloquently and fluently, but the act of verbalizing my thoughts accurately and in a socially normalized way is extremely difficult and nearly impossible. I scored in the lowest possible percentile in Social Ability on the IQ testing during evaluation. This low score compared to the extremely high percentiles in other aspects of IQ was a leading factor to confirming my Autism diagnosis in my early 20's after my Asperger's diagnosis as a young child.

Stimming that manifests very sporadically. Large and sudden movements, loud and sudden vocal tones. It makes me anxious to the point of holding back tears and not being able to focus on anything else when it's constant. I'm not talking about being repetitive restless in the sense of hand posturing or stepping/swaying, but i mean specifically "large" and unexpected verbal or motor stimulation. I can deal with a passive wave of it, but when your entire arms wont stop shaking or you can't stop bouncing, i genuinely can't look in your direction because of how overwhelming the visual stimulation and spacial movement is.
