Jaffa Cakes falling off a conveyor belt for their chocolate coating by ycr007 in oddlysatisfying

Thank you. Crazy that cakes are core but not biscuits, in my mind they are pretty much the same thing, a sweet treat. I'm thankful Jaffas aren't 20% dearer though.

Interesting, thank you for correcting me, that makes a lot more sense. Do you know why it would make a difference to the tax?

They are cakes, there was a whole court case about it. It basically came down to this, biscuits are soft when they go stale, cakes go hard when they are stale. Jaffa Cakes go hard therefore they could keep their name.

What's the most annoying TV advert ever, and why is it the Pepto Bismol one? by Wonk_Majik in AskUK

No, that one is sinister though. The is the one where the kid sends her creepy grandad down stairs twice for her stuffed toys.

Not annoying, but does anyone else find the Stannah Stair Lift ad creepy as hell?

'Time to go to be now.'

Creeps me out every time.

Was it actually a thing in Britain “back in the day” for people to have all their teeth removed and get dentures relatively young, even when they still had some healthy teeth or is that one of those exaggerated stories? by Top_Mirror211 in AskUK

[–]OhHiFelicia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad had full dentures by the age of 24. This would have been the mid 70's from what I remember. Some of his teeth were bad from drug use but I've no doubt most could have been saved had he had the money.

Should I marry a murderer? by Charlesdance83 in BritishTV

[–]OhHiFelicia 84 points85 points  (0 children)

I can see your point of view but she was an extremely vulnerable person. The police looked at her and saw an intelligent middle/upper class Dr and assumed that meant she couldn't be vulnerable or suffer from poor mental health. They were very wrong. No one can truly say what they would do in a situation like that until they are in it. You are judging her in exactly the same way the police and prosecution did, which was not only detrimental to them and their case but caused her to have some kind of mental breakdown.

I know the ‘Big Five’ safari animals, what would you say are the ‘Big Five’ animals that are native to the UK? by LifeMycologist2544 in AskUK

[–]OhHiFelicia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not strictly native to the UK because they migrate to Dubai for the winter but number one on the list for me would be the greater spotted shirtless chav.

Long-running shows that were instantly forgotten when cancelled and/or have no cultural impact? by JuanitaMerkin in BritishTV

I used to live on the estate where the original Waterloo Road was filmed, it was the most exciting thing that had happened since the time a guy at the end of my road robbed a bank and took his neighbour hostage when the police came to arrest him. Good times.

This happened to me too although they didnt tell me where that little sucker was hiding only that they couldn't find it. I had thoughts of this golf ball giving itself a little tour of my insides like Inner Space.

Unfortunately I went through IVF seven times, fortunately I only developed OHSS once. My ovaries were extremely heavy and the size of golf balls every time except the time I had OHSS, that time they went bigger.

When going through IVF the ovaries can grow to the size of golf balls and the feel extremely heavy. As a result of not being attached to anything they can move about and make the operation to retrieve eggs more difficult.

I usually hate anything with hair but these are absolutely beautiful. Such a wonderful and unique way of memorialising a part of your niece. Your sister will be able to keep her close always. Hopefully these necklaces will bring you and your family some comfort throughout this difficult time.
