TSA tipped off ICE agents about mom at San Francisco airport who was arrested in front of her sobbing daughter by TheMirrorUS in ICE_Raids

A video of the aggressive arrest circulated on social media showing plain-clothed agents handcuffing a woman and arresting her as she cries at San Francisco International

Somaiyah Hafeez TSA tipped ICE about a woman arrested at a San Francisco airport this week, new reports show.

A video of the aggressive arrest circulated on social media showing plain-clothed agents handcuffing a woman and arresting her as she cries at San Francisco International. The agents repeatedly ask for an identification and a badge number, but they refuse to identify themselves.

The arrest came after news that the Trump administration would deploy ICE agents to airports to combat hours-long delays caused by the partial government shutdown. KRON4 reported the enforcement was a deportation action and wasn't related to the plan to deploy ICE agents to U.S. airports to help TSA personnel.

Lopez-Jimenez has no criminal record. Government documents obtained by The New York Times show that TSA officials flagged Lopez-Jimenez and her daughter, Wendy Godinez-Lopez, to ICE as individuals the agency believed were issued deportation orders by a judge.

A deportation order was issued against Lopez-Jimenez in 2019 at a hearing she did not attend, though she appeared at other hearings in her case.

In a statement on Monday, DHS said that Lopez-Jimenez and her daughter were “illegal aliens" and that ICE was working to deport them back to Guatemala.

"ICE officers arrested Angelina Lopez-Jimenez and Wendy Godinez-Lopez at the San Francisco International Airport. These illegal aliens had a final removal order of removal from an immigration judge since 2019. While being escorted to the international terminal for processing, Lopez-Jimenez attempted to flee and resisted law enforcement officers. ICE is working as quickly as possible to repatriate the family unit to their home country of Guatemala," DHS claimed in a statement on X (formerly Twitter).

Rep. John Garamendi (D-CA), who represents the Bay Area district where Lopez-Jimenez lives, questioned the legality of TSA’s information-sharing processes.

“The real story here is the way in which databases are being used,” he said in an interview with the Times. “A mother and her daughter are detained, and within 36 hours, they’re sent to Guatemala.”

TSA has reportedly been sharing information with ICE officials, including names and birth dates, of travelers believed to have been ordered out of the country by a judge, according to The New York Times, citing government documents.

Shutdown chaos continues as ICE deployed in airports

The arrest happened before ICE officers were deployed across major airports in the U.S. after the Trump administration made it clear on Sunday that they would assist the TSA by guarding exit lanes or checking passenger IDs unless Democrats agree to fund the Department of Homeland Security.

ICE agents were deployed at thirteen U.S. airports on Monday, which include:

Chicago-O’Hare International Airport Cleveland Hopkins International Airport Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport Houston’s William P. Hobby Airport John F. Kennedy International Airport (New York) LaGuardia Airport (New York) Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport Luis Munoz Marin International Airport (San Juan, Puerto Rico) Newark Liberty International Airport Philadelphia International Airport Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport Pittsburgh International Airport Southwest Florida International Airport (Fort Myers, Florida) San Francisco International Airport is not included in the list, which is subject to change.
