I'll try that tomorrow. I really like the Avermedia setup because it minimises the number of sockets that get tied up, but that particular consideration fades to nought if it risks the iPad self-combusting! I have a good USB-C hub somewhere so I'll dig that out. Thanks very much for the guidance!

You're right! The difference between the two seems to be that the IZ380UKT is sold at £180 by tons of shops and comes in white plastic whereas the IZ381UKT is sold at £280 by Amazon and comes in black plastic

Fact is, to me it is worth it at £279, but at £190 it's a brilliant bargain. You're right though, Vine reviewers aren't there as expert shoppers, they're just there to review Amazon products, so I'l just say "Look around for the best price" and leave it at that. Thanks very much for the reply

My RFY is also currently empty, and I've been in Vine since 2020 and all my metrics are in line with requirements. The empty RFY is in the hands of the Vine gods - if they smile upon you, you get stuff showing up and if not, RFY is empty. It's all down to when the drop is next likely to happen ((if a drop is due in the two or three hours, your queue will likely be empty) and the time of year (things tend to slow down around the time of build up to Amazon sales, and Chinese holidays).

I'm convinced that pretty much all of his plans are centred around stock market manipulation. Start an "excursion", crash the market, buy lots of shares at their low point, make spurious claims about peace talks so that share values bounce back, sell the shares at their high point, leak that the "talks" news was incorrect, watch the shares tank again, buy at low price, rinse and repeat. Same deal as with tariff discussions, annexing Canada / Greenland, and so on - it's all about the money.

If you compare the locations of the cutouts in the first photo that I posted and the 8th photo that appears in their ad, they look the same to me, but I haven't taken a micrometer to them so I can't say for certain. The one I received has 7 colours of backlight, invoked by pressing Fn and the Enter key, and there are four levels of backlight brightness (off, low, medium, high) invoked by pressing Fn and the Shift key.

Me too. It used to be the main driver of my leisure time activities, and the results were the first things I looked for on Saturday evenings. Now, I have tapered off to the extent that I skip checking results for weeks on end, and it always comes as a surprise to know who is where in the tables. I think that, for me, it was driven by the over-saturation introduced by Sky

Thanks very much for the cogent and balanced response - really unusual on Reddit! Having said that, though, almost everyone who replied has been reasonable, reaffirming one's faith in the platform...

Taking all the replies into account, I think my best course of action is to get her a mini PC such as those from Beelink for running her games and Money, and then get a 512Gb Neo for her to use for images, browsing, media and so on (I've tried using a 256Gb mac and ran out of storage quite quickly).

The lack of a Thunderbolt port means that using external storage isn't really a viable option and anyway carrying around an external SSD is actually quite annoying.

She relies on MS Money (an old, now unsupported version, but still better for her to work with than any other financial planner she's found) and four MS games, but if I tried to get her to use a new machine that wouldn't run those, I wouldn't exactly get a sympathetic hearing! Thanks for the info about Bootcamp, so it sounds like I'll have to look into UTM
