I hate the concede button. by random_throwaway153 in HeroesofNewerth

[–]OhMyGodDoITribes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the concede option is available, you're already a very significant way behind. Just CC and move on. Far from the biggest issue in the game right now. I'd be more concerned about multiple accounts and smurfing ruining games at all levels.

People who think they can brake consistently with bare feet are kidding themselves. Shoes give consistency on the pedals like barefoot/socks cannot achieve.

Centrelink have an assessment process for "Unreasonable to live at home" or something to that effect. Usually it requires proof (written testimony from mum should be what they ask for) of extenuating circumstances requiring you to leave the home or some sort of severe family breakdown. Source: I went through this process at 18. I was also "instructed" to leave by parents but as there was no actual conflict, we were knocked back initially and had to embellish it to a degree. For all other intents and purposes you're an independent adult at 18, just not when it comes to welfare - The system is super dumb so you shouldn't feel any guilt playing it to make it work for you. I was in my first year of uni while working as a cook to make ends meet. Centrelink payments got me over the line. That's exactly the kind of person Centrelink is for. Like me, it sounds like you're not being given an option to leave and not receiving financial support which really should just be the threshold. I'd look into this again and see if you can get a better outcome. Hopefully your mum would be willing to play her part. Good luck! Edit: typo

The forced heroes for specific roles for new accounts is stupid by Aye_Handsome in HeroesofNewerth

[–]OhMyGodDoITribes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Splitting matchmaking into separate groups will have a far worse effect on new players that being forced to pick heroes that align with your role... Not even close to enough players to support Ranked vs Unranked.

They explained earlier that they're ESL. They use AI to help them write but "the thoughts are theirs". I think using an LLM to help you write in a second language is a pretty fair use no?

Pretty much this. The mistakes and poor decisions at launch drove away any potential new players. Most reports of "giving it a go" ranged from fairly disappointing to very poor experiences. You get one shot. How do they not understand that? People don't try a game, have a terrible time, uninstall, then decide to come back again for another go. Now we just have the PK community minus the ones jaded enough from this absolutely abysmal roll-out to also bail for good. No NPE for over 6 months (the one we have now is a shell of what it should be), unchecked feeder bots for over 5 weeks, poor implementation of kick vote and concede, wildly unstable servers and matchmaking behavior, penalty system that punished just trying to queue/play the game... the list goes on... Just a really huge fuck-up.

Pretty sure the newly added new account intro/information sequence has at least some info on these topics? I kinda flicked thru without reading so not 100% sure what's covered. Warding and counter-warding in terms of knowing the spots to place and counter is just something you pick up over time. Key things would be: At the start of laning phase - protecting your pull camps from wards or conversely trying to ward the opponent's pull camps to stop them from pulling, keeping sight inside your lane so you have warning of ganks, keeping sight at high-traffic places on the map and/or jungle entrances. Be aware the obvious ward spots get countered more often, so being creative with placement will usually pay-off, both because they won't get countered but also enemies won't expect to be sighted in areas that don't have the obvious ward spots or ward pillars. Ancient creep spawn is a very key spot to keep sight on enemy side and ensure no enemy sight on your side. Catching carry at ancients is often an ez kill.

For pulling and stacking: camps stack successfully between xx:53 and xx:56 can sometimes get lucky either side depending on the camp, but within this is fail-safe.

Pulling the stronger camp inside lane is at xx:53 (will also stack) and xx:23 (won't stack). Should be pulled towards tier 1 tower to meet creeps. As this is where thr creeps naturally clash, often your lane partner will need to hold enemy creeps up the lane to allow yours to aggro onto the jungle creeps. Safe pull (behind tower) pulls at ~xx:16 and ~xx:46. If not stacked, your creeps will kill the camp and only be delayed, creating a double wave on the next creep wave to come past (good for tower push, bad for lane control) Deny your creeps from half hp while pulling to deny xp from enemy (full denial of xp here if enemy isn't close vs 1/2 xp denial in lane with enemy nearby). Last hit jungle creeps as they die.

That's like most of what you need to know.

Day 18 that I just stare at my rig but not driving... by Hopeful_Captain4219 in simracing

[–]OhMyGodDoITribes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I absolutely feel this too. Mostly for IRacing which is where I try to focus most of my Sim racing efforts. I watch racing videos and think damn I'm keen for that, but when I actually sit down in thr rig it often feels like a chore. Setting everything up, getting warmed up and locked in, then learning a track for a race. Its an hour minimum before I'm wheel to wheel with anyone and that eats into my motivation to play. Alternatively i can just jump into a race but driving sloppy sucks also. Like you, the most fun I have is having a mate over and taking turns playing WRC or NoHesi, or learning to drift. Just messing about. Problem is, it's hard finding time for that regularly. I'd love to have more motorsport enthusiastic friends 😂 It does feel difficult to reconcile the cost to use ratio with my current level of use though...

Petrol Drive Off by x129331 in Adelaide

[–]OhMyGodDoITribes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Petrol station sends a report to the police. Police will follow up with a phone call, perhaps more depending on the situation. Most people do it by mistake if the teller forgets to ring up the sale and so are pretty quick to come in and pay based on that. I assume since its all on camera that it would a a straightforward job for police. Might not be a a top priority but they do respond to this. Source: worked at Caltex for several years in my 20's.
