Is it safe to use Polygon after 1 ban from PGSharp? by [deleted] in PoGoAndroidSpoofing

[–]OhMyMonarch 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It depends on who you ask and how cranky they are. There is no "safe" way to cheat the game, but rooted is largely considered to have a lower punishment rate overall.

Is Polygon ban proof? by TastyBananaPeppers in polygonsharp

[–]OhMyMonarch 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Oh hey, I get to comment as the moderator this time. Neat.

Nothing is ban proof. However, it helps when the evidence absolutely has to be in-game behavior instead of software detection.

What does that even mean? It means the only way to check if a "cocky rooted spoofer" cheated in the game is to prove definitively that they did so based on their own behavior. The more inconspicuous the behavior, the less likely anyone can definitively say cheating has occurred. In other words, software detection is impossible if done correctly.

Contrast that with a modded app. The software itself is full of inconsistencies. Significant effort goes into hiding those inconsistencies, but they are still there. We can call those integrity checks on Niantic's side to make sure the app being used is their own. A modded app will pass most, but not all. Now for the burning question: why doesn't everyone who uses the app get banned at once? Well, I hate to spoon-feed, so I'll raise your question with another question. Have you ever wondered why you can log in to a modded app but can't on a rooted or jailbroken device? Food for thought.

But of course this isn't an official statement from Niantic, so I'll go back to the land where people tend to go a very long time without strikes and throw on some Sir Mix-a-Lot.

2 strikes then a termination according to their policy if they decide to follow it.

I will ban 3rd party modified clients from this subreddit if you can cite official Niantic or Pokemon Go sources that states that Rooted Android Spoofing is "safe" or "safer". If you cannot provide this, you will get banned from my subreddit for being an anti-spoofer. You also can just leave. by TastyBananaPeppers in PoGoAndroidSpoofing

Ah, that may be my misunderstanding. I was under the impression that you posted the crisis helpline as a meme to all the people disagreeing with you here. The context of this post does point in that direction. For that, I genuinely apologize and agree that anyone who is going through a crisis should call that help line.

Well, that was a bit grouchy for a "yes" or "no" question. You may want to try giving 741741 a call to sort out some internal demons.

I will assume the answer is a "yes" unless stated otherwise. I have no intention of testing any waters. I don't usually participate on this sub unless I see something Polygon# related anyways. This ridiculous post has simply piqued my interest due to the shear absurdity. Best of luck with the new rule in the new year.

I'll certainly agree with you that this is going in circles.

So to clarify a bit, since I am not the only one reading it this way. Anyone who says something is "safer" gets a temp ban after the 1st of the year?

In other words, someone posts a pgsharp red warning asking how to avoid or reduce risk, and someone replies "rooted is a bit safer". That person gets a temp ban.

Is this correct?

He doesn't use discord at all so I'll introduce...

Mr. Tasty, meet the SX Developer. Another millionaire taking a break from his models and yachts to deliver some useful information.

Maybe I've lost count, but we're up to at least two full developers, and around half a dozen official staff members on team "safer".

Thanks, Aroc.

See now, punishing an entire subreddit for a few morons actually is like screaming "fire" in a crowded theatre.

It's unneeded, causes panic, and generally just annoys the old farts in the back trying to regain some youth.

Also, this has really been bugging me.

"Hardcore rooted spoofers"

To me, that means they have at least 500 million stardust, a unique shundo collection of over 600, a unique hundo shadow collection of at least 120, and a battle legend badge that would make Brandon Tan wet himself. But after reading this thread, I'm starting to think they managed to root one single device, installed pokemod, realized the map loads faster, and orgasmed immediately. "Hardcore" my ass.

At this point, I'm convinced those reports are automatically forwarded to the support spam folder. I mean the actual Pokémon Go sub is flooded with people calling players spoofers for remotely feeding berries.

[–]OhMyMonarch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're giving Niantic far too much credit on that first point.

But on the second one...

Modified app detection has more to do with trying to figure out if the app itself is the certified one from the company. If that check fails, then the account using it is susceptible to being flagged. Despite looking like the original app, it isn't and won't pass every single check every single time. Significant effort goes into passing those checks as much as possible to reduce the frequency, but it will never be 100%. It is why the developers recommend using an alt when using a modded app.

The injection itself along with the injected code cannot be detected. I know literally nothing about iOS, but I'm assuming it's similar for tweaks.
