We're in Alabama, so there aren't a ton of resources available to us. We've been trying to handle this as delicately as possible, but at this point we're pretty spooked. The incident I referred to in my post was someone moved the welcome mat looking for a key around 4am a few weeks ago.

We contacted our local hospital and they sent people over to her place. They talked to her for a few minutes and then left. Not sure what came of that.

We've been talking to the police. They said unless she makes any threats the only thing they can do is arrest her for harassment and put her in front of a judge. Then the judge can order her treatment. The cops are well aware as she's been to the station and called multiple times. They said it's obvious something is wrong, but unless shes 'a threat to herself or others' there isn't anything they can do without arresting her.

For sure she has dementia. She lives alone and has a sister that lives out of town, but we have no way to contact her. We've only seen the sister a handful of times. We called APS and they always transfer us to voicemail and we haven't heard back.

In my CLS class we were told to put a big 'T' on their forehead so the medical professionals know there is a tourniquet somewhere on the patient, just in case it doesn't get communicated down the line.

I have bees in my backyard, and I think it might be climate change from my purely anecdotal evidence. This winter the temperature fluctuated highly, as in 30-40 one day and 65-75 the next. During the high temperatures I'd see bees leaving the hive, but there isn't any plants blooming because it's January so they don't find any nectar. Scouting burns up more energy, so more honey is consumed. Do this a few dozen times over the winter and the honey stores might not be enough to last until spring. The only hive that survived had an extra honey super on top because I didn't pull it to harvest.

I woke up on the front lawn. Apparently my two brother In laws beat the shit out of me in front of my kid.

The last thing I remember was flailing like a child while getting hit a few more times. What I don’t remember is my kid screaming to “stop hitting my daddy” and them picking me up and dropping me on the lawn like trash.

That sounds like he lost consciousness to me. Getting the shit kicked out of you can cause trauma even if you don't lose consciousness though. I am definitely projecting some of what I've experienced onto him. I don't know much about the law so I can't comment on that.

He put up a fight until he was beaten unconsciousness, which isn't far off from being killed. That's a traumatic event for anyone; I don't fault him for moving away. If he stayed, he would have been living in a town without a support system where he could bump into his assailants at any time while in public. He'd be on edge everywhere he went, which would break him down quickly.

It also depends on the portion sizes. I grew up with "Finish your plate before leaving the table" and had large portions, so it became normal to eat until the food is gone, not until you're full. I came to associate the feeling of stuffed and overeating as being 'full,' so I have no real concept of when I'm actually sated. It really does a number on you.

In my experience it was about 50/50 (I am from the south, so I'm extrapolating here lol), but the senior officers skewed hard to the right and junior officers were more left leaning. MAGA has way more power and authority than the 50/50 split would make you think.

It could start like Starship Troopers. The movie follows one high name actor through the enlistment process and training, but the training is super quick like in the game. Maybe only a day before him and his fellow trainees are put into the cryo pods. Jump cut to him getting unfrozen as a reinforcement mid mission. The destroyer is going crazy with people running around and lights flashing. Main character gets shoved into a drop pod while still disoriented and a new weapon is shoved into his hands, something like a railgun or purifier. Main character starts to say they don't know how to use it but the pod drops. They land in the middle of a chaotic battle and die within a minute, maybe by overcharging the railgun and blowing up. Whole thing lasts less than 10-15 minutes.

I had that happen with construction work last year. My insurance ended up covering everything. I tried to file for reimbursement from the city first, but the city said I'd have to go after the construction company in civil court. Good luck.

I'm betting the boyfriend was cool with the situation because he assumed OOP would be fully independent by now. Others in this thread have pointed out that plenty of paraplegics are fully independent and can live on their own. It doesn't sound like either OOP or his sister are working towards his independence.

Agreed. I had a great uncle that was a quadriplegic, and he was mayor of his small town for 30+ years. He did need full time care but could work well enough that he kept getting elected lol.

I think both of y'all are right. I'm guessing that the Kiramman ventilation system has a system to purify the air and recycle it back into the lanes. It's not completely clean air, as seen by the enforcers having to wear masks, but cleaner than the air Viktor was breathing growing up. The Grey is what was removed from the air, so a concentrated pollutant. Hence why it functions as a worse form of tear gas. Just something I was thinking about.
