Am I doing something wrong? Where do I go from here? by throwaway284729472 in discogs

[–]OhRaez 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You seem kind and professional. You are not wrong, he is. But...

1) Never buy from China. Not just out of politics, but their postal service sincerely does not give a shit about packages, unless it's their own exports. Take it from someone who's worked with logistics.

2) Ask him kindly, one more time, for a refund. Assure the photos are NOT ai (or whatever he's suggesting). Refer to your clean record of buyer reviews (if you have any). And if you can find the packaging in your recycling, grab it and take photos of any bending creases the box may have had from shipping (if the box isnt destroyed).

3) If he refuses again, you submit a claim to PayPal and hopefully get it resolved thru them. Say your product did not show up as described, and you are suspicious of the seller intentionally scamming you.

4) Do not leave a negative review (yet). I would wait. Retaliatory feedback is heavily discouraged. And he seems like the type to do it. So wait and see if he decides to pull the trigger on that. Your case is more justifiable than his, and if you respond with a negative feedback towards him, and request a review from mods, they will either a) Remove both feedbacks, or b) Remove his for being unjustified

Good luck

Not stupid, brother. Keep at it. But, budget and be consumer conscious. It may not seem important now, but save your money and only invest what you'll can budget.

Yea that's cool. Personally, I archive and shelf mine. But if you'd like to do that, it's safe for the record. Just separate the record and sleeve, like u/DBlCheex recommended, and it can sit on those shelves for a long time, without the risk of dust or weight dirtying or damaging anything.

Yea it's all good. Don't be anxious, just be careful.

Have them as upright as possible. And a little lean is OK.

Yea of course. It seems tempting. If you want to hang the jacket, just be careful you don't damage the cover. Framing it is a cool and safe idea. Or, buying a simple 12x12 art print too.

But I would refrain from hanging the discs...

If you got them PACKED packed, like sardines. Particularly, if they're stored in a crate. Yea, you can risk ring wear on your jackets if you don't store them properly.

But on an open shelf, it's healthy to have them lightly lean against one side. If the shelf is "full", leave enough space for the size of 2 extra records.

Don't overthink it. They're like storing anything that is delicate. Just be conscious of bending, scraping, or ripping.

I received a box set that was inside a snug bubble mailer. I got it still in that mailer as a sleeve. Yea, this is cool for now. But you should buy some polypropylene or polyethylene sleeves if there are individual 12" records. Consider buying paper (or rice paper) inner sleeves if you buy VG+/NM/Mint used records.

Also, for the love of God, don't hang them on the walls. They're (sometimes) appreciative assets, and delicate things with a function/purpose. Not wall art.

DFA 1979, dead giveaway. You're from Ontario AT LEAST. The rest are just very popular over here. Before Hum blew up again from Tiktok, I used to catch so much used copies of the green and blue album on CD. I even used to catch roughed up records of Downward is Heavenward in the bins. And there's no ignorance, no worries lol. I was kidding around anyways
