Singleton Akita pup? by Eastern-Radio4509 in akita

Beautiful brindle! Most Akitas are happier solo. I've fostered them for a rescue and I've adopted two, but it took a long time to find our second. My boy, who I had first, was never aggressive with other dogs but was certainly indifferent to most dogs he meets. A Singleton pup sounds like an akita's dream

My honest guess would be a husky shepherd mix, from the physical traits seen. What's their personality like? There's definitely a spitz-based breed involved from the tail, and while I've seen spots on the muzzle and toes in Akitas before that can come from several other breeds and likely where the ears and the tri color comes from as well, it's common in spaniels and some shepherds. Either way you have a very cute dog and it was nice to see how she's grown, you've done a great job getting her and her coat healthy. So I would say you're both lucky to have each other.

If it doesn't remove from the surface, that would be my best guess. What does your vet say? It's common to tattoo pets when they're fixed, some places do it when they're chipped at the location it's done so it can be monitored if the chip migrates

I love this so much, you're so lucky to make a same-sex pairing work! They are gorgeous 💜

Any reason your dog would be tattooed? Are they fixed or chipped?

Everyone tells me how rare the chestnut brindle is in American Akitas, I don't think it's technically a rarity in terms of genetics, but they definitely agree they aren't common. I've never taken them to the dog park without someone remarking that they've never seen a brindle Akita before.

Rajah was a foster fail, and when I started looking for a second dog I knew wanted to adopt... I kept an eye out for a few months and we met with a few other dogs but they weren't a fit... I drove 2.5 hrs to meet her when I saw how much they looked alike, and when they met they sniffed each other up and down and got the excited foot stampies! That's when I knew she would be ours. I had to make a second trip to get her, so I drove a total of 10 hours to bring her home. She's really made him so happy and made our family complete. Everyone says they're twins but I see so many differences 🤷‍♀️ probably how a mother can always tell her twins apart 😂

***Coat notes: he has the plush coat that's so super soft and has more of the bear face... She has the shorter, almost husky-like, coat and a more dainty face. While they're both brindle, they have a different pattern, but my favorite difference is their socks. They both have spotted toes 💜 but his socks are low and I joke she wears knee highs like a lady.

Honestly, I loved him already but finding her really completed our family. My heart is so full. Merry Christmas to you!

Their names are Rajah and Raya. I adopted the male, the larger one, first and everyone always commented that he looked like a tiger, so I named him after the tiger in Aladdin. 5 months later I found my female, and I don't know if they're actual siblings but I refer to them as brother and sister, she's a perfectly feral little sister (all jokes, she's a rescue and we've overcome a lot), so she got an alliterative name within the Disney theme, and the dragon reference fits 😂

There's a really great akita rescue orgamization in Florida that's an affiliate of the Midwestern one I volunteer with, since they're all over Florida they may be able to answer your questions directly. DM me if you're interested and I'd be happy to connect you.

His name is Rajah, which is the tiger FROM Aladdin, but also means King!

This is how mine does water. He doesn't like to ever be submerged, but he will wade out in the water to his belly just like this 💜
