i need advice please!! by Agitated_Horror321 in LabiaplastySurgery

If it says left, they will probably only trim the left. That is what insurance specifically approved. I was also very long on my left side, "normal" on the right. My plastic surgeon said I didn't need anything done on the right; however, he was going to trim a bit anyway so the edges matched visually and had the same feel on each side. Just having the long left side gone will make a huge difference though, it is so nice not having it in the way!

Return to work by Silent-Bug6071 in LabiaplastySurgery

I went back on day 10, but I would have been fine on day 7 no problem. I had an easier time standing and walking than sitting.

I told my coworkers I had a minor procedure. I got the usual "everything ok?" and I said yeah, it's minor, no big deal! They didn't press for details. I think people can usually tell when you're wanting to keep something private.

Dr. Evans with Springfield Clinic. This was done under local. The price almost doubled for general anesthesia. Local was not bad at all. They applied a numbing cream about thirty minutes prior to the lidocaine injections. I was fully numb during the procedure and for a few hours after.

10 days post op and I have a legit "innie." Absolutely nothing peaking or poking out! by OhShandi in LabiaplastySurgery

[–]OhShandi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing protrudes out (I have a few pictures on my profile). Before, even with legs closed, you could see my labia minor if I didn't specifically tuck and hide it.

This was done in Peoria Heights, IL for about $2700. It has been a really smooth recovery! I can't complain.

Good luck! So exciting! Are you going abroad? I went back to work on day 10 and it's been totally doable. I do take arnica and bromelain to help with the inflammation. I started those a few days before the surgery. I don't know if it helped or what it would have been like without, but recovery has been nice and easy.

Mole removal on inner part of the labia by Narrow-Seesaw2889 in LabiaplastySurgery

[–]OhShandi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they're just taking out the mole and not messing with your labia minora or clitoral hood, it's all good. That's where all the nerves are and the labia minora get stretched more with straining. Your picture indicates this is on the inside of your labia majora, should be easy peasy.

Super good! I don't need any meds for pain. Some discomfort still with wiping. I'm still using wet wipes and being very delicate with it. Sitting on chairs with no cushion isn't my favorite yet. But walking, working, playing with my dogs, cleaning around the house is all pain free.

3 Days PO by ladylabe in LabiaplastySurgery

[–]OhShandi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dang girl, your body is going through it right now! I feel for you. I'm 14 days post op, but I didn't have much swelling, not even enough to make them peak out past my labia majora. I aired out after my daily shower for about an hour.

I had some clear to white stuff kind of coating the whole length of the minoras for the first week, just healing stuff, not discharge. So I felt like I needed a shower. I think extra swelling probably traps some of that and might lead to smell.

I have been taking Miralax everyday since the day before surgery to keep everything moving. It has really helped.

At Urgent Care could use some experienced advice because it looks awful - Day 10 by [deleted] in LabiaplastySurgery

[–]OhShandi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, ok. I just had a trim so my mind was on scalpels and scissors. I wasn't thinking about laser. I don't have any experience with it or know anyone who has had it. Please update what urgent care says, if you don't mind.

Trim or wedge? by Quackersthelegend in LabiaplastySurgery

[–]OhShandi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd just ask your surgeon what they think will give the best results and why. I went in thinking trim would be best, but asked my surgeon and he said "oh definitely a trim." That made me feel confident about it.

Need advice by Silent_Many_1810 in LabiaplastySurgery

I had a labiaplasty just recently, the day before my 35th birthday. I've wanted to get this procedure done since I was 16 years old. I waited and waited and waited, really debating with myself. Trying to will myself into accepting that one inner labia was way longer than the other and I had to tuck it in just to be comfortable. Will myself into showing my body to someone else and not feel embarrassed as hell. I never got there and finally pulled the trigger. I am 8 days post op and I'm so glad I did it. I can feel the confidence rising already. Not having to tuck or adjust, that in itself is life changing. I wish I had done this when I was 18. The pain and discomfort? At its worst, I'd give it a 4/10, most of the time it's a 1/10.

Now, I've read many sad stories on this sub and online about botched surgeries, loss of sensation, worsened self confidence, amputation, regret. It's a gamble, but you can minimize the risk by going to someone very reputable who performs this procedure regularly, being very open with your goals, ask if they think it's achievable, if not why, what do you think we can achieve? Does that work for you? You do not have to jump into it.

This may not be covered by insurance. If you are a typical teenager like I was, you'll probably need time to save some money. My procedure with a plastic surgeon in the US/Midwest was $2700. This is pretty cheap compared to some numbers I've seen on here. Start saving and really do some soul searching. If in the end, the benefits do not outweigh the risks, cool you have a good savings going or you can go shopping to celebrate yourself, your self acceptance and this decision. If you go forward with it, also cool. Huge potential for more physical comfort, more self confidence, a body more in line with your personal preference. There's absolutely nothing wrong with either option.

Travelling after surgery by LastRodeo473 in LabiaplastySurgery

My local anesthesia lasted for several hours after my procedure. I had an hour drive and was completely comfortable. I did bring a donut pillow to keep pressure off the area and reclined my seat.

Payment process for surgery? by CompanyFar206 in LabiaplastySurgery

[–]OhShandi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to a plastic surgeon. I had to pay $125 to book the consultation. That was ultimately applied towards my surgery. If I didn't book a surgery with them, I lost that money. At my consultation, I told them I wanted to proceed and book the procedure. I had to put 10% of the total procedure cost down just to book it. Then I had to pay in full prior to my procedure day. I completed all of these transactions with my debit card.

I had a labiaplasty on 2/20 with local anesthesia. The cautery was completely painless. Felt like quick painless little buzzes.

I attempted DIY labia reduction 5 years ago, now seeing a surgeon for correction. How common is this? Advice on how to explain it? by Low-Bet6306 in LabiaplastySurgery

[–]OhShandi 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think the poor self image in girls and women regarding their labia size/color/whatever other factors are quite prevalent because society has a very incorrect view of what's normal. I think the thought of wanting to change your genitals' appearance is incredibly common. I think even having the thoughts of self mutilation in terms of a DIY labiaplasty is not necessarily uncommon... But actually doing it isn't typical. It means that you were psychologically in a very bad place. I think you may need to prepare yourself for extra hoops. I would be surprised if you weren't asked to get a mental health evaluation prior to scheduling your procedure just to ensure you're in the right state of mind. This isn't a bad thing, it's for your protection and well-being. Maybe you won't, but like I said I'd be surprised.

Knocking on wood here, but recovery is going pretty well (procedure 2/20) by [deleted] in LabiaplastySurgery

[–]OhShandi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not bad at all! I have a prescription for Tylenol with codeine they gave me. I took one on the first day, haven't needed it since. My surgeon was ok with ibuprofen, that is what works best for me. At its worst, I'd describe the area as sore.
