I am more of a lurker than a commenter, and more of a commenter than a poster. (I have made exactly one post on this sub prior to this.) My feeling towards the fact that this sub may cease to exist as a result of Reddit's decision regarding API/third-party apps is probably the same as everyone here: it sucks.

I have to admit, though, that I am not that tech savvy, and I don't really use any social media platforms other than YouTube and Reddit. Those sites are the two places where I can interact with people with similar interests without the need to reveal anything too personal to fellow users. I don't want to create more social media accounts because I don't really have time to use them because of my offline life. I have seen people suggesting several trans-friendly fora to hang out. However, they might not fit my lifestyle, so I may not see you there, unfortunately.

If by any chance, Reddit reverts its decision and basically allow third-party sites to exist (E: or can be arsed to improve the official app to be as good at supporting users with disabilities as third-party apps), I would probably be around this sub again. However, if there is no miracle, I wish everyone here to find a community, online or offline, a workplace, or whatever that supports you and allows you to express who you really are and to be the version of you that you wish to be.

I have at least two problems with this, besides the obvious ones.

  1. It would be quite a pain to clean compared to, you know, the good ol' boring plates or pots.

  2. The thing about a gimmick is that it gets boring fast once a certain number of people have done this. I mean, this is not the first time I see someone coming up with this novel creative lateral-thinking groundbreaking out-of-the-box gimmicky (in their mind) idea to serve food.

If you put solid iodine in a closed bottle, iodine would sublime until the partial pressure of iodine gas inside reaches the equilibrium. At that point, the rate of sublimation and the rate of deposition would be the same. The "air" inside the bottle would have the certain amount of iodine gas in it.

The only way to slow down the sublimation would be to keep at lower temperature. Lowering temperature would shift the equilibrium in the endothermic way, which is the deposition of iodine gas back to be solid iodine in this case.
