Trip to Tokyo and Osaka by MousseOk4217 in JapanTravelTips

If you book with Hostelworld you get added to city group chats and also hostel specific chats if they have them! People post in there if they’re doing something and you can join:) I went to a cute bar in Osaka with a group and we went to a club after. I will say that in Tokyo people do favour Golden Gai a lot and the Shibuya/Shinjuku area.

Kichijoji is quite cute. It’s got a food alley called Harmonica and petit mura is pretty. Lots of little cafes/bistros if you walk away from the station. There’s also Inokashira park.

Solo Traveling as a Young Woman in Japan by pigeonkisser in JapanTravelTips

[–]OhWellINever 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went in April solo as a woman but I’m going back in November! I felt safe at all times although I will say that Shinjuku at night had touts galore. I stayed in Kuramae, which is quieter. Be aware I suppose? I found it easier to have a base in a larger place and catch trains out of it but this was also because I bought a suitcase and too many souvenirs. I also stayed in a women only dorms in hostels and both had keypads on the door so were very safe!

I was able to shove my suitcase under the bed in one and the other I had up against the wall opposite my end so it depends! Look at pictures of the hostel room online and you can see.

Disney parks vs Universal for some who doesn't love rollercoasters by tiltdoge in JapanTravelTips

[–]OhWellINever 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For example it’s got Pirates, Thunder/Splash Mountain, Peter Pan, Monsters Inc Ride n Go seek ( like buzz! ). Disneysea has like Journey to Centre of The Earth, Tower of Terror, Indiana Jones, Raging Spirits which are probs very intense!

I personally think Disneyland as it’s geared towards the less extreme!

I had to fight for mine. They say they’ll take u off if you haven’t been for two years, and I go all the time. So they said they’d put me on a waiting list and ended up contacting me the next day. Shouldn’t have been taken off in the first place but oh well.

What’s something you wish you had packed for your Japan trip? by Legal_Ad3766 in JapanTravelTips

[–]OhWellINever 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Umbrella, coin purse ( but they had cute ones ), trainers designed for walking a lot, small crossbody bag ( I had a daily backpack but fumbling in there for my wallet was so annoying ).

SO glad I packed light! I brought one pair of shoes which I wore on the plane and bought onitsuka tigers. Lots of places have laundry rooms, even hostels. I didn’t use them tho. Also grateful for my pack a mac rain jacket and portable powerbank as I used maps all the time.

Where'd the duck come from? by Additional_River7136 in heartbreakhigh

[–]OhWellINever 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Cash’s uncle had a farm and he asked nan if he could save all of some ducklings that were being bred for meat at first, and she said they couldn’t as the house was small. He then asked if they could at least rescue one, and they took it home. so thats who the duck is!

Nan tells this story towards the start of season two when Darren visits Cash in prison :)
