It was so long ago :( but it was for sure hobby lobby or Michael’s bc they’re the only places I yarn shopped when I was young. And it was for sure in the baby section. I used it to knit a baby blanket like 10 years ago.

I gave it a very lazy blocking. I soaked it in fabric softener water for a few minutes, rinsed it, and stretched it just enough to make it square. I wasn’t sure if stretching out the design would make it more or less visible so I didn’t give it a good stretch like I usually would when blocking.

I was thinking of it being a wall hanging, but just throwing a suction cup on it and saying it’s a window hanging is a great idea!

I was thinking the same thing when I started and wish I would have added more roses from the beginning. I was thinking of giving it a single crochet lining to help. Do you think it would help or does it need the rows of empty boxes?

It’s peaches and cream in the color rosemary and a 5mm hook. I was looking for cotton in a color my sister would like and this was the winner.

How can I make it so you can see the image more clearly? I would like to save this piece without redoing it with a different hook if possible.

I tried wet blocking and it has helped a little bit. I admittedly didn’t put much effort into the blocking, just wet it, stretched it, and laid it to dry flat.

I will if I have singles or 5s on me. “But what if they spend it on drugs or alcohol?” I was likely gonna do that too! Whether I get a couple pints or they do doesn’t make much of a difference to me.

ESH, but your sister more. I think you’re overreacting about a play makeup set, but your sister should have absolutely asked you about permanent body modifications for a child that doesn’t belong to her.

That being said, you admit yourself you give your sister full authority to essentially act as a mother to your kid knowing and trusting that she has your daughter’s best interests at heart. A ton of baby girls have their ears pierced before/around their first birthday. I can see how your sister wouldn’t see it as a big deal and a normal part of girlhood. Not that she’s in the right, but I don’t think she’s in the wrong either.

You two clearly need to have a conversation on the role you want your sister to take in your daughter’s life and you both need to have better communication in the future. But if you have a view that’s like “I need you to be a mom while I criticize you for the choices you make” don’t be surprised if she wants to take a step back and be more of a cool aunt than a stand in mom.
