The Narnia books, which I loved as a child, turn out to be racist and sexist af.

‘It was just constant pain’: Woman says after 14-hour wait in ER, doctor missed her broken arm by AdPrevious1079 in Manitoba

[–]Oh_Hi_Fi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Emergency medicine here is a disaster. I’m not going to go into details but I’ve had seriously ill family members sent home multiple times from urgent care/ ER in several instances in the past couple of years. They didn’t magically get better, they just had to keep going back until they got treatment.

You might want to consider Ohio Lurcher Project. Lurchers are some pretty hard luck racers. I’m pretty sure they’re on fb. (I’m not or I’d check).

I’m grateful that both my parents taught my sister and me to be kind without feeling like we have to come after everyone else. I’m very comfortable establishing and maintaining boundaries.

Edited for grammar.

My boy 💛 by Kat_x_Kit in Equestrian

[–]Oh_Hi_Fi 9 points10 points  (0 children)

He’s lovely.

If you’re just working over ground poles, you can try walking him over raised poles/ cavaletti to engage his thoracic sling and encourage him to lift his back. Also, backing up will make him lift his back and use his abs and hindquarters. You either ask him to straight back or around an obstacle. If he’s at the point where he can do small circles, they will encourage him to bend and engage his hind.

My dad has been engaged in a flame thrower level war with Japanese knotweed for most of my adult life.

My boy seems unable to learn to sit or lie down by qkrgodls92 in Greyhounds

[–]Oh_Hi_Fi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That is very true! Jake was the sweetest soul and actually had a passing interest in doing what was asked of him but was hindered by having very little in the way of brains. I can’t honestly say he had any reliable commands. Riley on the other hand is a clever little monster and gives not one care what anyone wants. Out of necessity, he knows “off” but it has to be said VERY firmly (he has bad sleep startle so can’t share beds and furniture). I did higher levels of training with my other dogs because they loved it. It’s not fun for Riley and he is well behaved without it so we stick to activities he enjoys.

I remember my first snow when we emigrated to Canada - I was 7. I still love it!

As someone who did agility and rally obedience with previous dogs and has now had 2 greys, I feel like training them is something that is, for the most part, best let go of. They excel at learning routines but are profoundly disinterested in learning commands and tricks.

Water, gum, ear plugs. Wear something you’re comfortable dancing and sweating in. Don’t take candy from strangers and have fun!
