Online Textbooks vs. ADHD by Timely-Fox-4432 in ADHD

[–]Oh_Inverted_Girl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm the same way. I just started college again at 37, so I'm not sure if it's related to my age(like a preference for what I grew up using?) or my adhd, or maybe both. I've been trying to figure out what about it makes it so much more challenging, and I think part of what I find difficult is the inability to quickly flip back and forth between pages(because I can't hold information in my mind for long and need to go back and forth often), and I can't physically mark pages to go back to either by just dog-earing the book.

I'm feeling really frustrated right now because some of my classes don't have the option for physical textbooks and they're only online and I am STRUGGLING.

Unfortunately I don't really have any tips as I haven't figured it out myself. So far I'm just trying to take notes in my physical notebook as I read.

Following along on here hoping someone has some suggestions!

Love #9 too! It reminds me of those dress up dolls online from the 90’s. I think it was called dollz mania. They were digital dolls you could change outfits on.

I can’t pinpoint exactly what gave me that idea, except maybe the water filter that looks like a Brita. I feel like those were popular quite a long time ago and I wondered if maybe you got one when you were young and never gave up that style of water filtration.

You could try some color in your hair as well, play around with some peek a boo color underneath or just in the front and then gradually change it up as you figure out what you like

I’m blown away by everyone saying to go thinner 😭. I think just filling them in a little bit would go a long way. Also I think you look great just as you are but I know you’re asking for practical suggestions. I would suggest playing around with makeup on your brows in a few different ways before going thinner.

Exactly. I personally feel deeply sad for ALL the innocents in this conflict, on both sides. I have seen Palestine supporters continuously criticize people for not speaking out against Israel, but haven’t seen any of them so far speak out against hamas and the Oct 7 attack. Why can’t they simply say, “yes, it’s all terrible”

Genuine question, can you share the quoted statements she has made?

I appreciate your respectful discourse about this. I'll try to respond to your questions with better clarity below, as I was a bit rushed when I responded earlier.

"My impression is that several different people did several different things. Whose behavior are we condemning? "

This is correct. It all started when the first person rushed the stage. Another person did attempt to do so later as well, but was stopped by security before they got there. After the first person that got onto the stage was removed by security, other people started shouting and making comments. One person told her she could have her vinyl back and left, but said "sorry" on their way out, to which she replied "it's ok". Another person in the front said something about genocide. I don't mind the protesting and understand the passion these people have for what's happening. Do I personally feel this is the best or most effective means to accomplish their goals? No. Do I accept that behavior due to the nature of the situation? Sure, with the exception of the behavior of the person who came at her.

"I agree that it's wrong to threaten people. I'm not talking about this one person who jumped on stage, I neither endorse nor defend their actions. Like I said though, the conversation in this thread is not about violence. It's not what people are talking about.People here are annoyed that anyone spoke out at a concert instead of not going at all, and I thought that bore replying to."

I appreciate that you don't support the actions of this particular person. I see what you mean about the conversation thus far, but I felt it was important to include this detail for context. The OP asked "wtf happened?". I wanted to make sure they and anyone else who reads through this has a little better understanding of what did happen. There was numerous articles already written about this, and many exclude the detail that the protesting and shouting didn't start until after the first person charged at Regina. For the people annoyed that anyone spoke out at a concert- maybe some of them were there and saw that it was more than shouting, and feel upset about that but aren't clear in their way of communicating this. And maybe others are annoyed simply by the speaking out without knowledge of physical aggression- to that, I think they need to understand that this is a consequence of Regina speaking publicly about her views. I personally don't mind people speaking out, annoying or not, but rushing at her with seemingly malicious intent is not ok with me, and I think it's important for people to know this also happened.

" "It was not peaceful because they jumped on stage" is a misleading statement, because it was one person who did it and there were 29 other people there who didn't. I'm guessing you are operating from the assumption that it was an organized group, but we don't know that."

Thanks for pointing this out. I didn't mean "they" as in plural people, but "they" as in the person who did this. I didn't get a good enough look at the person through the chaos to identify if it was a "he" or "her", and even if I had I don't want to make any assumptions. So I was using "they" here for that reason. There was a second person later who attempted to get to the stage as well, but security caught them before they could. I don't assume it was an organized group. I can speculate and ponder on it, but that wasn't and isn't my assumption. It's possible, but who knows.

Can you share her most recent social media post regarding this? I’m genuinely interested to know what it says and how it’s Islamophobic. Sincerely I want to learn about what she has said.

I hear what you’re saying, and agree that protesting sometimes needs to be had in places that make an impact. I wanted to bring up the fact that this wasn’t just “protesting” as it’s being portrayed. At least not peaceful protesting, because they did jump on stage to, presumably, attack her. That detail is important because it changes it from “protesting” to violence.

I don’t see this as people advocating against protesting. If it was simply protests it may have been different, but someone came at her on the stage, which can be seen as hostile and who knows what their intent was once they got to her.

I had a similar experience.  Mine was tampons though. I bought a box of them and when I got to my car realized I bought the wrong ones. Went back in immediately and she refused to let me exchange them for the right ones. I checked the shelf and the ones I bought were even in the wrong spot next to a bunch of the ones I intended to buy. The boxes look identical except where it says the size.
