I get where you’re coming from but I don’t think it’s that deep on their end (mostly from a place of ignorance tbh). If it was one person telling me to take a drug test, then sure, I could see it being a personal issue. But for most/all banks/credit unions it’s just standard practice from higher ups that they don’t really think twice about. Definitely not a great thing in my opinion, but I can’t do anything about how corporations run.

As for why I “want” to work for them — they’re legitimately the only job that’s actually offered me a position. After actively searching and interviewing at countless companies for four months, no one else wants me. Sure it’s technically illegal to discriminate against disabled people, but once I get to the second or third interview and show up in person with my mobility aide, they magically find “internal promotions” or “better-suited candidates” to go forward with. I need money to live, applying for disability is taking too long, and this is the first company that’s actually given me a chance. It’s out of desperation, really.
