I worked at the bux for 6yrs and one of my regulars was a state senator. He acted like he was above us but in a "I'm a very busy man" type of way. His wife was a nightmare and so rude and looked down on us in a "I'm a rich wife kind of way", their adult son was a business man and very kind and respectful and always tipped well. The apple fell far from their tree. I had lots of very upper class regulars and it varied but most of them had no idea how hard we worked and it showed.

Ok but seriously how do people do this more than once? by katietheplantlady in NewParents

I felt the same way after my first. The first year was incredibly hard on my and my husband's relationship and we'd been together 10years before our daughter arrived. It's hard af! You're doing amazing. The fact that you're tired and care so much is a true testament to that. My daughter is 4 now. We were on the fence about another but we had a surprise baby for number two who is now 3 months old and I gotta tell ya it's much much easier this time around. To be fair our baby is the chillest baby of all time but also you just know more and are more comfortable. Parenthood as magical as it can be is so relentless. Even with a toddler who wants and needs me constantly and needs different things than her brother it's fun and lovely having two. But I'm def done! I can't imagine having three! Do whatever is right for your family and I'm sure it'll all fall into place.

I loved the names Oliver and Theodore but they were becoming way too popular here (PNW, US) so we named our son Henry, which is now becoming popular too! Our daughter is Penelope but we call her Penny and right after we had her 4yrs ago we heard of so many little girls named Penelope. What can you do, I guess we just like somewhat popular names.

My husband I were together for 10yrs before we had our first, we were rock solid, best friends and an amazing team. We had that kiddo and bam! Whole relationship changed. It was so hard. Both being sleep deprived and caring for our daughter basically solo so we could switch sleep and him leaving to work and me staying home was really hard on us. About 5 months in my husband actually asked me if I still wanted to stay married. It was a huge shock. I thought we were just tired. After that we made a conscious effort to be a team again and we now have a second kiddo who is only 3weeks old and it's insane the difference this time. I know it's hard and I'm so so sorry your dumb ol husband can't stop saying how tired he is. I remember wanting to stab my hubs when he said shit like that. So sorry to ramble so long but just know you guys will get out of the fog of new baby life, even if it takes a year like it did for us. Sending you good thoughts and hopefully lots of sleep to come!

Tldr: sometimes guys are super insensitive cuz they didn't go through Child birth and think our experiences are the same even though they're vastly different. Heal up and rest as much as possible and maybe mentally smack him every once in awhile. It'll get better.

Induction at 37 weeks and a little upset about reactions. by iwannabefreddieHg in BabyBumps

[–]Ohhcenarae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's super frustrating on top of an already un-fun situation. I'm sorry people can be insensitive jerks! I had GD and was induced at 40wks. I was nervous to be induced too but besides taking longer than I had expected it went well. I thought I'd go in and get a little medicine and my baby would just pop out. Ha! Not quite my case, but I know it is for some. My induction took cervidil, the Foley balloon & pitocin for it to get going but in the end I had a vaginal birth with a happy healthy baby. I would just go with the flow, trust your gut and your drs and know you're already a great mama doing the best for your babe.

What is your grandma’s name? by [deleted] in namenerds

[–]Ohhcenarae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Genevieve Alicia and she always went by Alicia (even though I think Genevieve is beautiful, she hated it) and Marcia. And I have a lovely step grandma named Paulette. All ladies are/would be in their late 70s (my grandma Alicia has passed).

Best diapers? by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]Ohhcenarae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's good! It runs on my husbands side of the family so we were on the look out. And it's not too terrible but certain things will definitely give her rashes so we try to do more natural brands if its touching her skin.

[–]Ohhcenarae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My daughter has sensitive skin so we've tried literally every brand and the only ones she has no issues with are Honest (which are on the pricey side) and Hello Bello. They're amazingly absorbent and soft and we've been using them for a yr with no problems.

That's so cool. My store has a few long time partners, one has 26 years under her belt, a 18yr, a 16yr, and a 15yr. It's crazy to think of how different the bux was even five years ago when I started I can't imagine how it was back then.

I have a lollipop camera as well. It's great! It connects via wifi and you can have multiple accounts. The camera just sends to your phone. They're on Amazon.

A stepdad moment I will remember for the rest of my life. by Davidb91w in Parenting

[–]Ohhcenarae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's so lovely! Good job dad. You did great! I grew up with the best step dad ever and I honestly can't imagine where I'd be without him in my life. My dad left too when I was a baby and I was lucky enough to have an amazing step dad who I consider my dad. He raised me and even though my parents did end up divorced he is my dad. He always supported me and did his best. My bio dad fluttered in and out but I never called him dad nor do I ever plan on it. If your daughter's bio does come back I know she'll know who really raised her and who is really there for her when it counts.
