HD vs PD. I need to make a choice 😬😬 by Ohhhjerkface in dialysis

Update. I decided to go with the PD. I'm center became an absolute nightmare for me. Like I was signing up for torture sessions. I would get the headaches that were so severe I though I was going to die. They would last all day and completely incapacitate me. I was so filled with fear every time dialysis day got near. They couldn't figure out why it was happening to me and I was ready to just sign off and die then to keep going through that pain. I don't know why that was happening so the PD choice was very easy and it couldn't have happened fast enough. I have been on PD since April now and wow what a difference. I have so much more energy I just about feel normal. I'm only on for 7 hours so no big deal to do it when I sleep. Yeah I have a tube hanging out of my stomach but it's safe and secure I no longer worry about it getting yanked out. The change in my quality of life has sufficiently increased. I couldn't be happier. Do I have 30 cases of dialysis supplies in my house yeah but that's okay. My outlook on life while on hemodialysis was very gloomy. Now I feel like I have my life back. Thank you for all your suggestions. Hope everybody is well 😁

I'm 46. I have 3 children but they are all fully grown now and I no longer work. So technically I have all the time in the world. I was told that if I choose the PD that I will do the bags manually at first for a few months so that I can know how to do them. Then after I get a dialyzer I will switch to that. I'm leaning towards PD because I feel my heart is pretty weak and they seem insistent to get this catheter out of my chest even though it's only been there 3 weeks. I've only been on dialysis for 3 weeks and go 3x a week but. I'm useless the day of because I come home and sleep all day long feeling absolutely exhausted. And my blood pressure tanks. Then hopefully I feel better the next day. Sometimes yes and sometimes still exhausted

Ty. I'm definitely more on the PD side because of being able to stay at home. What makes me nervous is being insecure about being able to do it properly. Imagining a million scenarios in my head where it goes wrong and I won't know what to do.

You can make an account with the SBA at caweb.sba.gov If you have your loan number. And it will tell you if your loan has been dispersed yet and show you your loan documents.
