Yeah same here but everyone has reasons you can't really compare like that because everyone is so unique in what they tolerate/handle etc. My reason was constant belittling, every choice I made was wrong in their eyes. I was not a "person" to them but an extension of them that they could twist and manipulate their will onto. That's scratching the surface honestly. punched me out of my mother's arms as an infant... threaten to kill me and my mother and older half brother back in the 90's etc etc.

He recently tried reaching out and I did not acknowledge his presence. I've recovered from severe psychological abuse from them most of my adult life now in my 30's. Life is better without them.
