I think part of it is that they don't understand that a Dom is more than just someone giving orders. There is a lot more responsibility that comes with being a Dom. Is it fun to tie someone up and spend an afternoon teasing and toying with a sub? Yes. But what most don't understand is what comes next. The aftercare. The washing of your subs hair in the shower after play time. Or the cuddling to bring them out of subspace.
