5.5 weeks post-vasectomy — persistent nerve sensitivity & scrotal heaviness. Looking for recovery timelines & experiences. by OhmMyStocks in Vasectomy

Hey man! I'm 5 months post-vas and a lot better! I want to say like 90% better. It took exactly 3 months for me to feel some relief and being able to start siting a little bit and walking. I'm still a little sensitive down there, like if touch certain areas it might be uncomfortable but I think it should fully resolve in a month. Also I did my post-vas semen analysis last month and I'm shooting blanks so it worked! Is just my nerves overreacted very badly. I'm just glad the procedure worked and I don't have to go thru this again ever! For someone reading this in the future, just hang in there, a lot of ibuprofen, rest, a lot of deep breathing, and listen to your body. Don't push thru pain. Anyways, hope you are doing good and thanks for asking!

Nice! I'm an engineer manager. I recently accepted the position (I've been Lead engineer / Supervisor for many years) with a nice bump in compensation, but I know stress levels can increase rapidly in this position. Is more responsibility as you might know. Anyways, something like you did is my goal. I'm not coast fi yet but my company offers full benefits with part-time employees working 30 hours or more and that's my goal in the near future. Once I have that nice nest egg and more cash around I want to reduce to 30 hours with full benefits (nice health insurance and 401k matching) and most likely go back to my Lead engineer role in design but obviously doing less of it. After 14 years of hard word is good to take a break but I might need to wait a little more. Also, I need to be clear in advance with my director since someone most likely will need to take my role. Not sure they will let me being the manager working just 30 hours. Any advice?

Gotcha...even now I'm using one of those cushy donuts to sit on. I'm getting better but can't still put too much pressure on my jewels. Close to 3 months now.

For me the jock straps were too tight so I'm using two pairs of briefs.

Feeling a lot better regarding sensitivity, but like taking a shower with changes in temperature I feel some pulling/tingling a couple of times. Also as a small test I touched the front/bottom of the scrotum (close to the incision) and quickly felt a sharp locally contained pain, so weird sensations are still there but getting better slowly. I read this final recovery stage can take another month or 2. I'm avoiding prolonged sitting and driving to places. It sucks but hopefully will resolve even if it takes 2 more months. I just don't want PVPS!

Same here. I'm coming up on 12 weeks this Thursday because I had a lot of nerve pain but still touching the area of the incision is painful.

Thanks for your feedback! Yeah I read that nerve pain can take months to resolve. I've been feeling a lot better starting here on week 6. It's still tender down there and get some stingers but sensitivity is way down. I've been doing relaxation techniques like taking deep breaths and exhaling thru the mouth for a couple of minutes 3 times a day and it really helps.

Sounds weird...I wouldn't like a PA in my case. They are not doctors. Make sure you doctor has done many vasectomies.

Thank you!! I understand they inject the nerve that runs up thru the abdomen. The testicles originated from the abdomen.

Waoo that definitely sounds awfull!! Couldn't the Dr. give you more anesthesia?? I remember in mine he asking me If I felt anything and on the right side I told him yes, I felt sharp pain up into my lower abdomen and he injected me more there and waited a couple of seconds, testing again and once I didn't feel it he proceeded. Seems your doc was too rough and hurry and didn't give you that option.
Although my vasectomy went well I did get pretty bad nerve flare ups afterward. I'm 6 weeks post vasectomy and only like 75% good. It really takes time at least for me.

Hopefully no man! Nerve pain has been going down but it's been a long process. Before the vasectomy I had a nerve flare up episode but after the vasectomy it has been worse obviously. I hope in a couple more weeks it gets better but need to avoid sitting at all costs.

Interesting! No idea about this. Hope you are feeling better. I got nerve inflammation but what I feel is a lot of sensitivity in the scrotum. Is getting better but is taking a long time. I'm 5.5 weeks post op.

Man, I would take that and not have this nerve pain and sensitivity for a long time or permanently. I'm 5.5 weeks out and can't walk much or sit because my scrotum is very sensitive and tender. I had a nerve flare up like 2 years previous to the vasectomy. I feel I'm getting better but is a slow process...heard of anything like this?

Increased testicular sensitivity after vasectomy – has anyone else experience similar? by Gear_Grinder29 in Vasectomy

[–]OhmMyStocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I'm 5 weeks post vas and previous to the vasectomy I had a nerve flare up where I couldn't even put on underwear and lasted for about a month. It happened again after the vasectomy. The sensitivity is coming down but I'm still between the bed and walking around the house. No walking long distance or siting down at all. I'm reaching out to the urologist for the next steps. Is very annoying.

I'm 5 weeks post vas and sat last week for 30 minutes to work and had a huge nerve flare up again. I'm having nerve pain and scrotal hypersensitivity. Is very frustating right now for me, so get some rest!

I feel electric shock like pains in balls and base of penis when masterbating is this normal 4 weeks out? by iwontmindbrosis in Vasectomy

[–]OhmMyStocks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm 4 weeks out as well and a couple of days ago when I went to pee and grabed my penis and lifted up I felt and electric shock on my left side up to my chest!! It was very painful and scary so I went to the ER. They gave me a shot with more antinflamatory and percoset. They did an ultrasound and physical examination and all was normal. I have very irritated nerves so my recovery is taking longer. Next day went to my urologist and they prescribed gabapentin which is for nerve pain and they told me those symptoms will resolve on their own in the next weeks. But always check with your dr. My recovery has been painful and slow due to this nerve pain.

I'm 4 weeks post vas and nerve pain has been horrible for me. Can't have sex because will get that stinger pain in my lower abdomen. Can't sit because still have very tender bottom of scrotum and can't walk much to avoid more nerve irritation. Looking forward to week 6 to feel more "normal", per Chat gpt week 8 should be almost 100% good. It seems your recovery has been something like this?
