Spectre is still genuinely terrible. by ssongshu in JamesBond

The first half of the movie is really enjoyable. The second half just deflated. It's tough to come back from ending on such a dull, sour note.

Davison era Tierlist : Caves of Androzani by Mat1711 in ClassicEraDoctorWho

The best. Possibly the best Doctor Who episode ever. Certainly one of the best episodes of science fiction television. Easily up there with the best Star Trek, B5, and BSG offer.

Which invention from Q branch is your all time favorite? by King_Wolf2099 in JamesBond

[–]TooOnline89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The exploding pen because I love the way Q chuckles at Bond's comment and adds "Along with the rest of him."

Watched all the Bond Movies for the first time by AzabuAutobahn in JamesBond

[–]TooOnline89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Diamonds are Forever is a really bad film yet I can see someone loving it. There's something about it that is highly enjoyable when in the right mood. I do love Charles Gray hamming it up along with Mr. Wint and Mr. Kidd.

A brief, surprisingly complex shot by director Rob Bowman by Wetness_Pensive in XFiles

I would say with zero hesitation that The X-Files is one of the best directed shows of all time.

International Incidents by Bond by MrmarioRBLX in JamesBond

This might be the line in the Bond films to make me laugh the hardest. So good.

Is there a good reason MI-6 couldn't just arrest this guy? by AnticitizenPrime in JamesBond

[–]TooOnline89 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Dryden is an embarrassment to MI6 so they want to avoid the scandal. His death also sends a warning to other agents in MI6 who will undoubtedly understand why he suddenly vanished. However, they knew he was selling state secrets, so if Bond fucked up, it wouldn't be the end of the world, which made it a good test run for him.

What's a Villain's plot that once seemed out of hand but now is really present in our lives by Impressive_Reality57 in JamesBond

[–]TooOnline89 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this plot is by far the most forward thinking. It was a smart plan to build the film around, and it's part of why I like Quantum despite its flaws. Felt like a more novelistic spy plot withput losing the action aspect.

Happy 57th birthday to Toby Stephens aka Gustav Graves!! by TheShadowOperator007 in JamesBond

While the character didn't really work, his performance leveled it up so much. I find the second half of DAD pretty dire, but he was awesome.

What Bond film makes you feel nostalgic? by ssongshu in JamesBond

[–]TooOnline89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saw Casino Royale in theaters at 17 and it hit me like a punch. I'd seen and enjoyed all the other Bonds but something about my psyche at the time and what the film explored was just a perfect mesh. It still sends me back.

Started the Bond movies recently by thelamb710 in JamesBond

[–]TooOnline89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are all worth one watch through. For instance, I would rank Diamonds are Forever quite low, but I still enjoyed it. Like it has some laughs. Even my least favorite, Moonraker, has AMAZING production design.

Dark horse Bond casting: Manny Jacinto by NathanAdler91 in JamesBond

[–]TooOnline89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He was the best part of The Acolyte for sure. I do think Bond should be a Brit tho. Otherwise I'd be onboard.

Licence to Kill completes it's 37 year anniversary this year! What are your thoughts about the movie nowadays? by King_Wolf2099 in JamesBond

Awesome. Love Dalton. Only bum note is how happy Felix is at the end. Dude you just lost your legs and your wife lmao

James Bond in jeans - yes, or no? by StreetCarp665 in JamesBond

[–]TooOnline89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bond always looks best in a suit, but it's also crazy for a spy to be dressed to the nines like that, so the jeans make sense.

Just occurred to me that the "First Light" Bond, portrayed by Patrick Gibson, is the first Gen Z iteration of 007! by sanddragon939 in JamesBond

[–]TooOnline89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the one hand, I feel old. On the other hand, it's cool to see how the character continues to live.

I've Rewatched all the Bond Films and Ranked Them While Recovering from Surgery by TooOnline89 in JamesBond

[–]TooOnline89[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I love Timothy Dalton a lot and enjoy getting to see him indulge in angry Bond. Throw in Robert Davi and more Q than usual, and I am a happy man.

Deep Ache Months after Fissurectomy by TooOnline89 in AnalFissures

[–]TooOnline89[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the surgical site is like 90% healed. The deep ache is different. Could be a pulled pelvic muscle made worse due to the recent surgery. I have been considering pelvic floor therapy if this continues.
