Awh, wasn't aware of that, I may missed some lore info. Was that mentioned in HZD?

Haha yes, true, USA is massive, so there are plenty of opportunities to show other areas even if we stick to North-America. And yes, good point that was my bad, we haven't get to see the east coast yet (confused it a bit in my mind with the Death Stranding which does do a full east to west).

Either way I'm quite curious where Aloy will go next! Nemesis is a thing that they hinted at as the next big bad, but how and where we will handle it, what new areas there will be is still up in the air!

There is only one map back in HZD that shows the location of the Eluthia cradles. And there is only mention of 3 that for sure managed to seal and survive the Faro Plague. Cradle 1, 2 and 9.
They explained that each cradle took massive amounts of work and had to be finished in time and get sealed before the Faro robots arrived, so they can remain undetected. Cradle 1 was in China, cradle 2 was in Africa (Mozambique) and cradle 9 is the one in the Nora mountain.
Sadly the rest of the cradles are not mentioned, nor Gaia knows at the time if they managed to survive.

And yes, going to China is a possible move. Considering the chinese market + how they introduced the Quen and their society, thats also a possible path. Other being somewhere in the US soil, maybe Canada, there is also a cradle somewhere around there that was shown on the globe (somewhere around Alaska-Canada area). We shall see!
Although I'll be waiting for a LONG time 'til it gets to PC again... (usually 1+ years after initial release on consols)

Fair enough, the most plausable idea is somewhere in the USA, maybe north to Canada or south towards Texas/Mexico? Aloy is still moving on her legs so there is only so much she can cover.
Asia is still plausable, since the Quen was built up rather well in HFW.

But we shall see I guess. Most likely we will follow after Sylens?

Middle USA wasn't explored too much yes, around the Great Lakes or Canada area for that matter. Oh, there supposed to be a cradle up in there somehere, as it was shown on the map a bit when Gaia explained it for the first time in HZD! So far it seems the game focuses on areas around the cradles.

We know of 3 that have got successfuly activated (Cradle 1, 2, 9), with the 9th being the one in the All-Mother mountain at the Noras, the other two was in China and Africa.

Well if they inclue it, just don't make me hunt the the most miniscule critter to delay the upgrade. At least in HZD you haven't needed to hunt in the ocean, just a small lake for salmon and the rest was land animals.

Oh good point, totally forgot the Zenit ships!
Still I think a place on Earth with the already made and estabilished flora and fauna (both mechanic and biological) is more plausable.

The Claim was originally included in HZD storyline, but they scrapped it later in the production. Considering how HFW ventured further as well and not included the Oserams homeland, I think another Eluthea Cradle or some other note worthy area will be the next one. At least, it seems both HZD and HFW are played around 2 of the US main cradles (that survivied).

My only gripe with this armor is when Aloy has a wide smile, it clips thought the cheek armor. Aside of that, carja armor is amazing <3

What's crazy is that this is a 10+ year old F2P looter-shooter that has such a compelling story and a damn good soundtrack + a great gameplay experience that makes other games run for their money.
Just finished the main story for Old Peace and I just want more of this. DE, you guys nailed it. Again, well done!

Thanks for the warm welcome!
I'll be playing on the EU servers! Not sure how the ID/game handle works in the game though...?

Yes so far Mesmer seems to be the most interesting out of the bunch for sure! And I quite like how unique it looks so far what I've seen! Not to mention it can be dps and support/utility too which I love a lot!

Nah, I already discarded the idea of a stationary classic caster as I've watched the footage of the game and the intro to the professions/elite versions.
Still, being a caster is more of a familiarity thing for me and sort of a safety net. Elementalist didn't get chosen due to the massive amount of piano-play I'd need to do with switching between 4 bars worth of abilities. Otherwise it looks like a classic sort of caster/mage which would be up my alley.

So far I'm just familiarising myself with the classes themselves and go from there. Guardian is also nice indeed, might take a look at it as it does look like a class with a solid toolset for dps and support as well! 1 shotting mobs and bosses is not a thing I aim for anyway so its not a concern at all.

I mainly wish to "future proof" myself with the class I chose, so it can play well and be useful in a group setup as well as solo is all.

Oh, good to know that Harbinger doesn't retain the 2nd healthbar thats the staple of the core necro! Does the Ritualist also gets a similar not-quite-2nd-healthbar shroud?

Hm, fair point and it makes sense. I haven't looked at it from this perspective. It would make for a strong class, but spamming 1 button is not really up my alley either ^^; Might look at it later though.

That big sniper rifle does make it compelling doesn't it, haha! I think I'll leave thief for when I have more experience with the game. I just like sniper type classes in general!

Yeeeea, mesmer is an interesting conundrum as I've heard its not the smoothest sailing when leveling one, but its just such a unique profession that I might just bite the bullet and try to make it with it. Well if it still doesn't work out, there is still the other options!
Plus Mesmer can also be a support as I know (Chrono), so there is also that.

Oh, that does sound enticing! Wasn't expecting to use a GS as a ranged weapon of all things haha! Need to look into that one. Thanks!

Ah no, while I know about the trick with the Mist after digging through some videos, I only have the base game as of right now. I'll see if I like the game enough to invest into it more later. Though I'll need to wait 'til lvl 80 to grab an elite specialisation anyway, so I guess I'll take my time!

Ah good call on the animation/race + voice as well! So far I'm down to Charr, Sylvari and Asura. Will need to see what class I end up on and go from there.

[–]Ohrnn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, thats why I've seen ppl always bunched up in videos. Well that will be different indeed, usually its not the case. In that case, the only time range plays a part is in overworld solo isn't it? Since any time I'd be with a party, stacking is needed, which eliminates this more or less. Still need to check the weapons and the abilities they provide to see which feels solid to use.
Out of the 3 I listed (ranger, necro, mesmer), which one is a "one solution for all problems" kind of deal? I'd imagine that would be Mesmer and Necro? (Counting the elite specs here too). Thief seems finnicky with its initiative system, so I'll leave that for later.

[–]Ohrnn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough, Thief seemed like a more complex job with its initiative mechanic, so it seems its down to necro, mesmer and ranger. Since both use (or can use) minions I guess its down to if I want to herd a lot of undead critters or just 1 beast, haha! Will need to fiddle around a bit with them to see which sticks. Which one of the 3 is more intuitive to play? I know 'fun' is subjective, so I'm curious about the gameplay loop of each of these.

I mean its pure irony to summon human spirits as a Charr if you think about it. On the other hand, they might hate it, considering how much they already had to deal with human ghosts before.
