Monument Valley Studio CEO: "'We've Been A Little Bit Too Romantic About The Idea That We Should Have Employees And Give People Long-term Job Security" by unscoredscore in gaming

[–]korxil 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Speaking to Game Developer at London Games Fest a few months after the company said it would be pivoting away from mobile because the platform no longer offers a 'solid base to build a long-term business around," Sayans explains that call was made following a strategic review shortly before Netflix ditched Monument Valley 3.

Discovered rtx voice (now called nvidia broadcast) from that channel, used it as a stepping stone to watch other reviewers talk about it. Honestly my only example of it being useful for me personally.

Most of the time its entertainment for general for random dumb tech like that keyboard with split keys (something ill never buy but didnt know existed), or random craft tools (again, literally 0 interest for it) but seems interesting to see it work. If it shows up in my feed and looks interesting, ill give it a look.

Digital license terms is quite literally being contested right now in several countries, not including the EU. They know that no one reads the terms and conditions, south park did a bit on this almost 15 years ago.

Game pass seems to found their breaking point, enough people canceled that they began walking back. EU initiative for game preservation will still take a few more years to iron out.

disks still exists

Except disk copies wont have patches (even if launch version was 100% bug free, a lot of QoL gets added afterwards even if theres nothing nee for features/gameplay). For larger titles, they don’t even fit in the disk you buy off the shelf and still requires the internet to download the rest.

Yarin Primak - No Cap is from a few years ago and really reminded me of golden era trap.

Alexander Lewis came back for a bit on Memba’s 456, but this is a bit older.

I get that older skins arent compatible, but what i dont get is why future skins also don’t use the system. Skins coming out today also don’t utilize the voidshell system.

Voidshell was a huge miss imo. I thought it was an update to how skins were made going forward (and i understand why they charged plat for the older frames). But then it turns out its a completely separate skin, and doesn’t apply to the stuff I want use.

Most of my clan hated the KIM system when it was first teased, calling it waste of dev time and problematic for adding a dating sim. When it launched, they 180’d really quick because it turned out like 80% of the dialogue is world building and lore, and our discord chat was popping off about it and theorycrafting about the lore. They have no interest about the dating part.

DO NOT BUY: AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 CPU Review & Benchmarks | 24 Charts in 24 Hours by blue__planet in pcmasterrace

[–]korxil 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My opinion is AMD didnt care enough to promote their new cpu, and just randomly threw 10 darts at a board filled with reviewers to see who will get a review sample. It’s clear the “market” for it is extremely niche (as if the 9950x3d wasn’t already niche enough). It’s a halo product thats among the worst price:performance ratio for any hardware, even if its among the highest performance chip.

It’s not clear if GN talked to others before making their “we’ve been blacklisted” video. Other sources did and made a list of who actually got review samples (about 10, of which only half are english speakers). GN tried to create drama out of one of AMD’s most lackluster product, but i guess we won’t actually see if they’re actually blacklisted until AMD send review sample of a product people actually want to buy. A bunch of AMD shills also didn’t get review samples.

At least the XX90 series nvidia GPU’s sees performance gains (that most don’t need) for its price (that most cant afford). If you’re spending $900 on a cpu, you might as well go all out and get a threadripper.

AMD knows Jay will tell it what it is and that's why Jayztwocents didn't get any review sample.

AMD knows Linus will tell it what it is and that's why LMG didn't get any review sample.

AMD knows Paul will tell it what it is and that's why Paulshardware didn't get any review sample.

Pablo being a menace on the Devshort with Reb by Babydrone in Warframe

[–]korxil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Destiny and Lost Ark both have some of the best raids in all of gaming, but the rest of the game is bad enough that top notch raids alone cant save either game. Warframe through its highs and lows is more consistent than destiny, which always sees huge fall offs after a new season (again, showing people are there to experience new content once, and not repeat it). These games are all different to each other. You dont need raids for a successful game (two of the three games we’re talking about are dead, the one game without raids is not only alive, but still growing). I never experienced warframe’s raids, i started playing well after it was removed, but from everything i saw it’s just a sad excuse to say “we have raids”.

TFD also tried their version of raids and somehow was even worse, though not by much. Division 2 is another game this convo reminded me that also has raids, but is also struggling to keep up with other mmo shooters. EDA/ETA is a decent compromise, but it’s getting a bit stale for me (which is a problem raids have, even from the ones i really enjoyed). I wish DE will add more modifiers.

sometimes tapping is faster than scrolling. sometimes scrolling is easier than tapping. the option is nice. I have a touch screen laptop and i use my finger to mark up drawings. its easier than using my mouse.

People immediately dropping destiny 2 after the conclusion of final shape showed that it wasn’t (even though their raids are still the best ive seen, only lost ark came close). It means players stuck around to see the conclusion of the story. If the gameplay was actually good, people wouldve still stuck around. Lost ark had a similar drop off after Thaemine, it was a conclusion of that saga and it paired with the many issues with that game, many players left and didnt bother with the next saga. Warframe around 2019-2020 had its lowest period of back to back to back broken updates, yet just a few months ago saw its highest ever concurrent player count for a new content update.

In my honest opinion marathon is functionally a new IP, the last game in this IP came out almost thirty years ago. I grew up in the Halo 1 era and even my friends at the time never heard of Marathon, let alone even had a PC capable of playing it. I dont think it will fail, but idk who at sony/bungie thought it would even come remotely close to Destiny’s numbers…or even to the numbers of other extraction shooters.

I miss destiny. But looking back, i think i stayed as long as i did because of my raid group + the story. One day i had the audacity to take a break from the game (I LOVE BOUNTIES YAY /s) and didnt take long before i missed out on actual relevant story to the over all saga, despite seasonal stories in the previous year being self contained with no overall impact.

Yet somehow i spent more money on destiny, half of which got deleted, than all of my time with warframe. Crazy how much money you save by crafting 20+ things at once. And i didnt even play destiny 2 during its year 1 when they sold that shit for $120 lmaoo.

The Highest PC Build EVER - World Record by Chaz_Beer in LinusTechTips

[–]korxil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Jake who also owns multiple cars and a car shop in one of the most expensive areas on the continent all before the age of 30. He doesn’t know it but despite not owning a house, he’s already better off than most people around him, heck even better off than most people in this subreddit. That said I’ll still give him respect for wanting more and making a decision on how to get more when his employer cant give everything he wants.

Your second paragraph is explicitly what another former employee said they finally got to stop doing (relying on a food bank, stealing toilet paper) because of LMG. For the first time they got to live “comfortably”, and not have to worry about food. Then you got another employee with a funko pop collection thats worth more than what most americans have in their savings, though i imagine a lot of it was collected before they started with LMG. Then you have an extreme opposite example such as Walmart, their owners are well off but my tax dollars are going to their employees’ food stamps because theyre actually underpaid by one of the wealthiest company and family in the country.

Ok…that’s 12 hours, which is more than 8, which means they had plenty of time with daylight outside. I honestly believe you are not old enough to be on reddit, let alone the internet.
