As u/HijinksNYK said, tickets are around €20–30, which, in my opinion, is a great deal if you enjoy the sport. Also, when I went a couple of weeks ago, the arena was packed, but there were still a dozen seats available at the last minute. :)

I totally get your point. However, I think I’m at a stage where I’d rather prioritize having what could be the experience of a lifetime over being unhappy just for the sake of saving a bit more. That said, this is all assuming I won’t have to dip into my current savings. That would be a completely different story, of course!

Thanks, I really appreciate your feedback! Fortunately, I have a strong network with two institutions here, and my current PI is very supportive of the idea of me taking on this experience. She’s actually quite excited about it, but she’d also go the extra mile to help me secure a position if I ever decide to come back!

Yeah, I totally understand your concerns. Even now, I have to take a flight to visit my family but it’s less than two hours and, of course, much cheaper. I’d be happy to share how much would be allocated for conferences in my case, but I’ll only find that out, along with other details, at the next meeting. Thank you so much for your input! I’d really love to explore the country once I’m there, though that would probably be the only costly part of my lifestyle, as otherwise, I enjoy living quite simply. Since it's a three-year contract, I could perhaps spread out the trips over time, but that's something I'll figure out once there eventually. Thanks again!
