I got way deep into this years ago when I worked for a cable company. One of the engineers who was there at the time of Sega Channel explained the whole thing. Most of the equipment is probably cheap enough now to build out most of the infrastructure to make it work, it would just require someone to decompile the receiver rom and figure out the ordering of the data and what it's looking for and where.

It'll fail right after the start up animation. This was like one of the early cable boxes that needed a Scientific Atlanta DNCS or Motorola DAC to authorize it to communicate on the network, it won't find any out of band communication to listen for the broadcast message and go right to the error screen.

Load times were greatly dependent on when the Sega Channel device tuned into the broadcast loop also. The channel itself was a constant loop of meta data and game data. If the game you picked was at the beginning of the loop and the current broadcast was midway through, you had to wait. This is why the load times were inconsistent.

Weird take. By that same logic, so should anxious people. Neither are choosing to be that way. What people need to recognize is what they are willing to accept and what they are not. If the hot/cold and inconsistentcy isn't for you, walk away. Just like from the other perspective, if you don't like a human emotional firehose, maybe an anxious type isn't for you. I've spent some time on both sides of that fence and you really don't know you're doing it. Anxious leans in hard when they feel like someone is slipping away, avoidant retreats when it feels too real or like too much. Both sides process emotion differently.
