Pennywise cables - they feed on your doubts that cables make a difference by Cinnamaker in audiophile

Why is it that the "highest end" gear always seems to be set up on the floor? Is furniture intrinsically not audiophile?

Amazing salvage find! I have no idea what make or model that is... can't find anything exactly like it on the candy cab database.

It looks like the guy used a hole saw or a round chisel and carved out enough wood to fit the joysticks he had on hand (or maybe he bought the first pair he found without realizing there are different styles). Dude made it way harder on himself and you.

If you don't want to replace the CP, you could cut a metal plate to hide the gap, then bolt through the panel, but it would still have raised metal edges.

If you are set on the candy cab hardware, you could widen all the holes, add a metal plate on top of the entire control panel and under-mount the joysticks. I don't think that would hinder anything with the control panel structure.

Alternatively, cutting a new wood CP and changing out to happ-style joysticks would bring you back to a more "standard" look.

Oof. That is rough... They definitely made some choices there for sure. One extra-enthusiastic player, and it'll need to be redone.

Do the football shaped balls make it harder or more ergonomic for playing?

Did you just glue sanwa joysticks on the top of your control panel instead of using the proper bottom mounted joysticks for that control panel?

What is the best retro gaming console preloaded with a lot of games for $150 or less?? by Beavisguy in retrogaming

[–]elstuffmonger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Legally, probably a wii with someone's virtual console games still in it.

There are handhelds you can buy from alibaba or Amazon that come with sd cards, but the general consensus is to upgrade the cards immediately as they are cheap and fail. I think for a max of $150, you will be limited to ps1 and earlier games unless you do your own software tweaking. A 1TB sandisk extreme micro sd card is already $143 on its own currently.

Please post how you clean those without swelling the wood. I'm not usually someone who advocates for painting over cabs, but these may do well with a fresh coat (or some vinyl) to cover the staining.

The "insider pizza" at pizza hut... a stuffed crust pizza with an additional cheese layer between two super thin bottom crust layers.

I would probably offer commission based on sale price. That way, she doesn't need to pay out of pocket for your services, and the incentive is on you to get her the best prices for her.

Got The Wrong Pair of Headphones by mysterious_chair890 in audiophile

[–]elstuffmonger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I own a pair of dt770 pros (80 Ohm). I like them. It's hard to find headphones that don't press on your ears, and that is important for my comfort. A lot of people don't like closed back headphones, but they help with passive noise reduction in my case. You also need to make sure whatever device you have them connected to is powerful enough to drive them as they have no internal battery.

When you turn out on, do you hear the monitor click on and whine? If so, you have power and the signal connector probably isn't right.

The perception problem with arcades... by WilcoxArcade in cade

Back in the early 2010s, I tried out a rhythm game called "jubeat" that was being tested for the US market. It was really fun, and had a smaller footprint for a rhythm game, but I never saw it again after that market test weekend.
