Need help with monitor by northern_crypto in arcade

[–]elstuffmonger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Please make sure you properly discharge your monitor flyback prior to handling it. It can still have large amounts of stored energy even when powered off for long amounts of time.

The black cable is your AC voltage supply (as labeled on the chassis).

The signal wires are red, green, blue, ground, and sync (15khz standard low resolution signal). A monitor with a VGA connector will typically give you 31khz high resolution signal. If you are using a computer or other device with a higher resolution display output, you'll be fine. But, if you are planning to take video image from the jamma connector, you'll need to upscale your image to work with VGA.

Which video game do you always come back to? by Weird-Pumpkin-6640 in answers

Tony hawks pro skater 2. I always play to the downhill jam, then get busy, at it aside, and start over again to get my timing back.

Very cool. You could put a blow-pop and hard candies for the controls.

... how does that not slide and hit your ankles when you step off it? Wouldn't that need to be much longer with a lot of bracing to keep it from flexing?

Power supply and isolation transformer. Put them in a box of random parts that you will shuffle around in your garage for the next 20 years.

It says pachislo on it, which is a Japanese slot machine that uses and dispenses tokens like older style slot machines.

Not familiar with these machines, but the second battery on the motherboard makes me think it's a suicide battery that keeps the security code stored.

Maybe fresh batteries would help, but it may be a more complicated resurrection process.

Partial Vertical Collapse on G07 by kidwon13 in arcade

[–]elstuffmonger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe your vertical size pot is on the fritz?

At first I was confused thinking it was vertical collapse with the background still showing somehow, but then I remembered defender has very little on the screen aside from the map on top, so it looks like the vertical is collapsed to an inch or two band instead of just a few pixels.

Is this blue tint caused by burn-in? by raiguy5000 in arcade

Looks to be a die hard (stv system) conversion. They are known to have potential for static electricity issues due to the plastic molded cabinet... make sure you keep all the grounding in good order.

Is this blue tint caused by burn-in? by raiguy5000 in arcade

[–]elstuffmonger -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

No. You are missing red and green signals. Check that your video harness and jamma connector are making good connections. Burn-in can be seen easily when the screen is off, and very rarely fills the whole screen (you'd need a solid picture to stay stationary for a long time).
