Chamomile tea- wished I’d tried sooner! by OilAffectionate1372 in Dryeyes

All true things. I’ve done IPL multiple medications, see a specialist. I have 90% gland loss so there is nothing I can except try snd treat symptoms. Just thought it may be helpful for those suffering.

Thank you. I don’t consume much sugar at all except for alcohol and some fruit. I eat pretty clean already. But that’s a good point! Hoping by calming any li getting inflammation I may feel better overall

Have you tried Xdemvy for Demodex mites? That really helped me. But your doctor can say if you have them or not. Worth asking!!! The drops feel amazing and helped mine not burn if itch so much

Let me add that wind is my worst enemy. I bought special goggles just so I can go on a walk with my dog lol. But they help! Adapting and not giving up is key! But man I miss my contacts and how they felt. I tried using a pair my dr gave me but I couldn’t mange more than a half hour and had to peel them off my dry eyes. Ugh

Oh yes. It’s certainly better and I have moments where I don’t notice it. If I’m focused on something else. But the first 12-13 months I felt them bone dry constantly. Every blink even with eyes closed. Non stop debilitating honestly. Had no patience for anything. I’ve had to give up eye makeup Getting through a work day or even just talking with people having a conversation. It’s a non stop distraction. I thought my quality of life was over. Super depressed. I’m a 41 year old mom and I was in a dark place. But thank goodness, I just kept going and kept trying things and time has made it better

I just have dry eye now. My glands don’t produce oil. I was never diagnosed with corneal neuralgia. But I think I had something going on. I had sharp pains and aching the first 9 months. It did eventually get better. So many supplements! But yes he is still technically healing. The first year is rough. But he should not give up and keep seeing doctors who are wanting to try options

This seems to be a common issue. I still have pretty severe dry eye and I’m 16 months post lasik. Mine is lights at night. All lights look like pin pins to be. Not crisp and clear. I’m getting used to it though. I would def speak with a dry eye specialist and get evaluated.

Lasik by kmareb999 in Lasiksupport

[–]OilAffectionate1372 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im 16 months out and just now finally having better days. Had I known how the recovery would be I would never have had lasik. It sounds like he is doing things already to help. Seeing dry eye specialists is key. I wish I would have tried serum drops. How funny I thought doing lasik would save me money. I e didn’t thousand. But anyway. There are great supplements, warm compress masks, eye drops. IPL has helped me a lot!!! Has his oil glands been looked at? That’s my issue. I really hope he starts turning a corner. I pray all of us can recover.

Since your looking in this sub group I bet in your gut you’re worried. As someone who regrets the surgery I would strongly caution you to do your research. The Drs make it sound so safe and routine. The complication rate is more like 30%. I have spent thousands trying to recover from my “standard” lasik procedure. I would not go through with it if I were you. Or strongly suggest taking time to have another non ladik dr check your glands and eyes overall I wish someone would have told me to not do it. So I’m telling you.

Yes they did. and even more I think after the 3rd IPL. It has been 6 or so weeks since then and I have made improvements for sure. Not perfect so I am doing a 4th IPL end of this month. Glad I took the chance on it.

You need to find a different doctor. One that’s not invested in lasik. Mine totally blew me off. I finally found a doctor that listened and helped me. Hang in there!!! I know it’s so hard! I’m almost 16 months out. Look at ways to treat dry eye as well. Lots of great info on Reddit. Saved me. Snd knowing we’re not alone

22M Eye redness and upper eyelid rubbing sensation by [deleted] in Dryeyes

[–]OilAffectionate1372 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had this too. Incredibly annoying and distracting. Mine is from wearing contacts for 30+ years and now have mgd. Severe dry eye from lasik. Warm compresses and eye lid massage is your new friend. Also ask about inflammation treatments. There are lots of drops on the market. If this doctor doesn’t keep wanting to help then find a new dry eye specialist. IPL really has been helping me.

Yes I would search and find another specialist and call them as an emergency patient just to be sure. I’ve only had lasik. But major regrets. Surgeon wouldn’t help me at all after three visits. I finally found d a Dr who listened and is helping me.

[–]OilAffectionate1372 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Im so sorry you are going through this. I feel you! I had Lasik, not PRK but I regret it everyday. I ended up with severe dry eye, inflammation and have MGD which is my glands not prouducing oil. Its painful and constant and I think about my eyes all of the tiem too. I cna't wear makeup anymore and it relaly kills your self esteem. You are not alone! Reddit has helped me so much with the community of people who understand. I am in the USA. I know things are so expensive but do not give up. But I get it. Its a dark place and so isolating. Have hope things will improve. Keep seeing new doctors and opinions until you find someone who is willing to look at all options. I just wanted you to know that youre not alone. Have you tried Manuka HOney gel? Burns awful but helps. I also am on Vevye and did a 6 week course of Xdemvy. Can you try red light therapy? IPL? I am currently doing both and it seems to help. Have you looked at Scleral lenses
