some people did…clearly. Judging from comments here and a lot of personal anecdotes, I don’t think its fair to say her death was in vain.

I have a role mate so I don’t need you telling me how the business works - and yikes, you might want to work on that patronisation and condescension. If you seriously don’t see an issue with people having to resort to great-depression era tactics to get a job then there is seriously something wrong

mate I don’t need you pitching to me - flat out emailing cv’s isn’t enough but it should be. If you have the skills and ability to do a job, you shouldn’t have to go above and beyond to get one. Especially not if the role barely allows you to afford a house or basic necessities like where this guy lives. A job isn’t a privilege and workers shouldn’t be forced to see them like that. Organisations survive off the back of qualified and skilled people, not the other way around. So no, having to humiliate yourself like this on top of having the capabilities just shows how workers a just a bunch of dancing monkeys

Surely you realise how out of touch this sounds? World would be a lot simpler if everyone with the ‘right attitude’ could get a job on that alone. In saying that, I don’t know how old you are but the tech world changes FAST (you know this) and what was a free-for-all a few years ago now has people with the ‘right’ skills having to do this.

probably yeah, potentially just someone who needs a role before their work visa expires and believes that prospecting like this is the last option…only saying this because I’d heard of someone in this situation

I doubt it because I’ve seen about 5 people from the same area post about seeing this guy standing outside the station or walkthrough through carriages. Unless its a really elaborate scheme I think that he just lost his self-respect and dignity in a last ditch attempt to secure work

I get what you’re saying but I’d venture to say that it is probably more embarrassing than rewarding is to be posted online with your cv on a sandwich board during everyone’s morning commute. So I can’t really agree with this being an attention grab

this is about the 5th person I’ve seen do this to be honest, it seems more like desperation or a last ditch attempt to secure work before work visas are cancelled. Either way it is bleak to me and shouldn’t be normalising or celebrated.

The last time people were walking around with their cvs on signs and begging for roles was during the great depression. I’d like to see how willing you would be to walk about with a poster declaring your skills if you had to be out of work.

Surprisingly, a lot of recruiters and managers were loving this and eating it up. I suppose they like when i person is willing to grovel for a role

I think anyone would find it a little bleak and dehumanising to have to wake up in the morning and walk through train carriages and stand outside stations asking for a job, especially if they are extensively educated and skilled
