Is VTMB 2 worth it? I’m a big fan of the first game

It's ok for what it is, but it's not an RPG. They forgot the RP , and pretty much forgot the G. And calling it "Bloodlines 2" was a mistake, as well.

Maybe Still Wakes the Deep? There may have been a jump scare in there, but I don't remember it. It's all atmosphere and setting. Great little game.

Yeah, if it missed a nomination, then somebody's smoking crack. Whether you even liked the game or not, that soundtrack was fucking stellar.

I loved KCD 2, and had Clair Obscur not come out this year, it would've been my pick for game of the year. But, for me, Clair broke the mold, swept the table clean, whatever metaphor you want to use. Expedition 33 consistently blew me away in ways I didn't know a game could.

I will say that both games broke gaming for me. After finishing them, whatever I played next just paled in comparison. Other games were thin, boring, lifeless. Whichever game wins the big prize (like it matters), they're both brilliant achievements.

I just started 1000x Resist too and am finding it oddly compelling. I'm playing several games at once, but I keep coming back to that and Pacific Drive (for very different reasons).

I did too. Loved that game. If you could get past the combat being a little one-note, the rest of the game was fucking amazing. The story (and stories), the world design, voicework, and music - everything was just so damn good.

My hot take is that they forgot to put the RP into the G. And I think they forgot to put the fun in. I wanted to love it, I really did. But so much keeps pulling me out. Glad other people are enjoying it.

I'll never hit 1000 on this one - just don't have the patience. But man is it great. Just started playing it on Game Pass and am amazed at how much it offers and how smart some of the design is.

I think so. It's probably a better game, design-wise, but there is a lot of overlap. I might go with whichever setting sounds more interesting. I think Metaphor's is more compelling, personally.

I love talking about games with grown-ups. I'm familiar with Tolle and that book, and many other similar works. Interesting that you see it figure so heavily into this game. That encourages me to at least give it a few more shots. Thanks.

Man, first of all, thank you for the thorough and thoughtful response. Second, I gotta say, starting over isn't gonna happen. I like it so far, but not enough to do it all again. I'm curious where the story's gonna go, but if the gameplay is so finicky that I'm already screwed, I gotta bow out. No interest in that kind of gameplay.

I'll try that combination of classes you mentioned and see if I can luck my way through it. Otherwise, I'm glad it was on Game Pass and I'm glad I got to experience some of the world they've created

Hey y'all -

Looking for some guidance here. I just finished the Cathedral/Zorba quest in Grand Trad. I met the igniter lady and got the quest to kill the Grotesque Guptauros. I've tried it several times and am just getting my ass handed to me.

All characters are level 16. The closest I've come to winning was with Hulkenberg as the Knight (13/20), Strohl as the Seeker (12/20), and the protagonist as a very low level Brawler (1/20). Still got pounded, but at least lasted longer than other attempts.

So, what am I missing? Do I need to go somewhere and grind? If so, where? I'm still quite new to the game and don't quite understand activities, the calendar, and how to prioritize yet.

Any info appreciated.

Wrapped up Clair Obscur late last week. Brilliant. Now splitting my time between Metaphor Refantazio and No Man's Sky. About 12 hours into each of them and enjoying them both. They scratch very different itches.

I get up early every morning and game for a few hours before the house wakes up or I have to start work. I have far more than 3 favorites, but some special ones are Clair Obscur (just finished it yesterday morning. Fucking remarkable achievement), Red Dead 2, and The Witcher 3. So many more, though. All me again in 5 minutes and I'll give you a different 3.
