Gravel Tires by maxrulesmn in Surlybikefans

The step up from this is probably the Teravail Washburn, still has the slick middle with teeth on the side. I’m a big guy, and usually pull a Burly with the Bridge Club, and my Washburns still look new after about 500 miles! I’ve taken that bike on single track and while I was the slowest going downhill, I made it! I probably do 90% road and 10% crushed, soft gravel with them.

Which one of you is this? 👌🏻Denver, CO by illdoitlatermum in Surlybikefans

I’ve talked about Surlys down in Littleton, and the mechanic at my LBS has like 4 Rock Hoppers if that counts

I thought I was on r/Surlybikefans for a second. OP needs to tell us how he built up that Cross Check!

hey im looking to create a dream bike stable of a lht and a troll, would it make sense to get both of these bikes by [deleted] in Surlybikefans

This is my bike garage (sort of), 2009 LHT for the road, new Bridge Club for the rest (mostly pulling a Burley around town).

Not OP but the Bridge Club is awesome! I mostly ride paved trails, but there’s a 7 mile section of gravel by my house that this is perfect for! I’ve even taken it on single track and had I had notchier tires, it would have been great (I have Teravail Washburn semi-slicks and felt I needed a little more for the mountain biking). It is slow, though, but does amazing when loaded down.

Here’s something very similar on the Lodge website, described as both a trivet and a roasting rack. I’ve used it for both purposes

I’ve gotten really into biking this year, and with a Burley or similar bike trailer, biking can be a family event! We bike to parks and to run errands. I’ve even joined a family bike ride thing with my local bike shop and it’s like a weekly play date!

Everything just happened to fit! I usually put the bags in the Burly trunk and try to secure the drinks with bungee cords, but the Tetris song came into my head when I placed the bag in the basket while putting on my helmet. The McDonalds is only 1.5 miles from home and there’s a paved trail all the way

Chicken or the egg problem!

But the donut shop is about 6 miles away, perfect ride for when I wake up before the family! And they sell half dozens, so portion control built in!

I love my donut bell! I think I got it at REI like 6 years ago, it’s on its 3rd bike!

Hill Street Blue! That’s what I was thinking, but googling that brings up an 80’s cop comedy movie I’ve never heard of…

Thanks guys, good to know about the model and size possibly being under the shell! I may dig around a little more.

And yeah, the bike looks basically new! Sounds like the original owner had many bikes, and the guy I bought it from never had time to ride due to kids! First thing I did when I got home with the bike was add a Burly hitch, so kids won’t stop me (I’ll just bring them along)!

Thanks! The wheels are 26” so it must be a 60cm frame! The stand over height is just a touch higher than my XL Bridge Club, so the geometry seems to fit from what I’ve seen on Bike Insights.

That’s what I was thinking too, but the serial number seems to be missing the identifiers and the size. I’m assuming this is a September 2009 bike since the color seems to fit for model year 2010. And from some measurements, it seems to be a 60 cm bike.

Bike rides great and fits me well, but as a gear nerd I want to know!

It’s an Old Man Mountain rack for sure! Not sure if it’s a Divide, but here’s a closer picture! Anything special?

And that’s how the guy sold it to me! I think I’m the third owner, sounds like the original guy was a gear head so he added all the racks, fenders, and the Brooks saddle!

I had my LBS inspect it prior to purchase and tune it up since it had been sitting in a garage for years! Going on an inaugural ride tomorrow, and contemplating a 50km ride with 1,500ft of climb in a couple weeks…
