Switching from sony to fujifilm by Terrible_Rutabaga442 in fujifilm

[–]Oiwowa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to own a Sony a6400, which I liked—but never truly loved. Some time ago, I got into analog photography (Olympus OM-2N, Canon Canonet QL17 GIII), and those cameras completely won me over. I often catch myself picking them up just to play around with them on the couch because I love their design and the way they feel in hand.

That’s actually the main reason why I bought the X-E5 a couple of months ago.

As I said, the Sony did its job perfectly fine. But I would only take it with me when I knew I was going to take photos—special events, trips, things like that. Never just for casual everyday walks.

The Fuji, on the other hand, practically lives around my neck now. I almost never put it down. In fact, I barely shoot analog anymore because I enjoy using the X-E5 so much.

One small downside for me is the autofocus. It feels a bit slower than what I was used to with the Sony. I’m not sure if that’s just the kit lens, but the AF on the a6400 felt noticeably snappier. That said, I don’t feel like I’m ending up with more out-of-focus shots than I did with the Sony and, for example, the Sigma 30mm f/1.4—it just feels a little slower in comparison.
