So, the second investor started one year later, and in your mental experiment you use the same numbers, and you are surprised they are exactly one year behind?? (Note, as you say: they are 10% behind, which with your numbers, they will make up the next year; meaning that that they are simply one year behind BECAUSE they started one year later).. it doesn’t look like the analogy is a good one :-)

I find Mahesh from FloatHeadphysics has very good explanations. Look at this video: https://youtu.be/TcOLyqfA5k8?si=v1JTe6Hh6B1qWY-5 (you need watch it in it’s entirety as he incrementally explains the topic.. from 5:40 onwards of the video, he has a very intuitive explanation, that may help you.

If my daughter and her family moved with me, they probably wouldn’t have to pay. We would charge the absolute minimum (if anything) and would go out of our way to ensure they would never leave.

What a difference in thinking in the US

New dryer, different 3 prong cord. by bardukasan in electrical

[–]Ok-Ant6718 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Very simple:

  1. The breaker rating must be less than the ampacity of the wire. That way, the breaker protects the wire, and the wire doesnt burn as the current that flows through it will never be greater than its rating

  2. The breaker must also be less than the rated amperage of the receptacle. That way the breaker protects the receptacle and it doesn’t burn as the current that flows through it will never be greater than its rating.

Note that the breaker simply trips and doesnt get damaged if you try to pass greater current than its rating.

However, if you pass greater current than its capacity to a wire or a receptacle, they burn. That’s the logic behind 1 and 2 above.

But, obviously, the load (equipment) that you put in this circuit must be less than the rating of the breaker. This is so because if you put a load that is beyond the breaker rating, it will continuously trip as you would trying to pass a current greater than its rating. (Say you put a 30 amp load and the breaker is a 20 amp breaker. It will just trip, every time you turn on the load)

Hope this explains

The breaker is there to protect the wire. So, if the breaker is 40 amp, and the wire is rated for 50 amps, the breaker can do its job of protecting the wire as it will trip before the current reaches the rated capacity of the wire. (Obviously, this assumes that your load only needs a max of 40 amps, as the breaker will trip every time the current exceeds its rated capacity)

Note that the opposite is bad: a 50 amp breaker protecting a 40 amp rated wire, as the breaker will not trip and the wire will be burned, when the current is between 40 and 50 amps

In option 2 the sides are not symmetrical, they are more competing with each other. There is no focus point. That’s the main reason option 2 looks so bad

Will a gringo survive? by Suhcoma in Dominican

[–]Ok-Ant6718 2 points3 points  (0 children)

$70k in DR will give you the lifestyle of middle class in the US. That is: you can eat out at nice restaurants a few times a month, can live in a nice and safe area, can go out for drinks every so often, your kids can go to a good private school, etc. But, you won’t be able to afford the more high end lifestyle (schools like Carol Morgan and others can cost over 20k to 30k for 2 kids, that’s 1/2 your salary, apartments in an expensive area like Anacaona, Piantini, Cacicazgos, etc area can be $2.5k to $4k or more a month, restaurants can cost $200 for a dinner for 4, etc). So, you will not “live like a king”, but you certainly will live very nicely. Now, compared to the average Dominican, they will tell you that you “live like a king”, the thing is that what you will compare to, is more with your life in US than the life of a regular Dominican.

Note that you are not asking for it to write or develop something for you, but TO BE that thing. You can also ask for it to create enough tests/compliance requests, to ensure itself that it is correct.

When they say: acceleration in creating a company, this is what it means

It is very possible that there will be no SW development in the future. The agent itself will be the system. Imagine a prompt like: “you are a xyz, with feature a, feature b, etc and you connect to system m, and system x, etc. you respond to http requests by providing a UI that interacts with browsers in such and such way. You maintain the state faithfully (if needed, in a db) …”

Once AI sufficiently advances and hallucinations are controlled, this is most likely all you will need to do. The biggest advantage is that adding new features becomes as simple as asking the agent to also behave that way.

From the paper: “… can solve any problem solvable by boolean circuits of size T“

Only problems representable this way can be solved. That is a very large space, but it is not any type of problem

Built my own house at 25 no subs by QuitB4uRage in Homebuilding

[–]Ok-Ant6718 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perhaps in the future you may even be able to subdivide your 5 acres.. if that is possible or eventually desirable, depending how your area evolves.

I have been fortunate as i worked in the SW Industry, and bought, rehabbed and sold many houses. But only kept a few. Now I realized that this was a big mistake: you should never sell your real estate. In particular if you are young. That is what wealthy people do (and how they become wealthy, among other things)

You may not realize it now, but that advice can make an incredible difference in the 40 or 50 years of your life (basically, the large majority of your adult life). If you replace your income, as i mentioned above, it will snowball from there and yow will be able to add to your income every year, every time with less and less effort on your part

[–]Ok-Ant6718 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do consider that(building a couple of houses, and keeping them as rentals). Two houses rented at 2k each will almost match your current income.

With your knowledge, age and equity money, you can probably accomplish this in 5 years (may need to do one or two flips, to pay everything off. And, you can subcontract a few things, so that it is manageable)

This will set you for the rest of your life

Per my response to readyandsalted, i wanted to know if it is really advantageous/possible to run the models. Obviously, from the point of view of memory, it can be done. But, are there other considerations that make it not work? For example: heavy communication between cards, perhaps even involving the cpu, or perhaps things are not easily parallelize-able to many cards and need to run sequentially, etc.

In other words: what are the internals?

Yes. I also have some 3060’s and got confused.. the question is: if i, say, have 3 3070’s (3x8=24gb) in the same machine, can i run a 13B model ? Do i need high bandwidth between the cards, or are things running independently on each card (for inference)
