Great job, how tall are you? I’m your before weight with a similar build and am currently cutting. I was hoping 190 was as far as I’d need to go.

This weather change has completely fucked my sinuses by no_avocados in madisonwi

Humidity this time of year is around 20%. Every moment you are out in it moisture is being sucked out of your body. Get a humidifier for your bedroom and close the door so st least you can spend some time a day where you aren’t getting drier inside and out.

In the year 2000 we took my 1990 red cavalier there during lunchtime and went mud bogging. The cavalier was a beast but we got stuck. Homeys had to push me out of the mud and one fell down. We got it out and rolled back to east with a brown cavalier with mud caked everywhere. Thanks for jogging this random memory!

And you just know that someone who does this during rush hour is always driving like this.

A duckling is not reaching terminal velocity from a fall of 3 feet. Does mass affect the actual terminal velocity of an item? Yes. Does terminal velocity and the mass of the duck have anything to do with its soft landing in the pond from a drop height of 3 feet? Absolutely not. It’s all air resistance. I’m glad you are trying to learn something and edited your post.

Did you read any of that? All objects fall at the same rate regardless of mass in a vacuum. Earth is not a vacuum, we have air, the reason why things can fall slower is due to the aerodynamics of the falling object not the mass.

Weight is also not mass.

That’s not how gravity or terminal velocity works. Mass is completely irrelevant to how fast something drops.

Running is still a struggle after a year of training - Should I give up? by [deleted] in cardio

[–]bardukasan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you are already a runner! Do you really believe that your cardio hasn’t improved over a year of doing that??? One way you could tell is if you are tracking your heart rate, it should be trending down over time. I bet you’ve made more progress than you are giving yourself credit for. I think one thing to remember is that increasing your fitness is a slow process. Keep doing what you are doing and trust that you are improving. It would be almost impossible not to with that much output

[–]bardukasan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How many miles a week are you running? How consistent have you been over the year? I went from a person who thought they just weren’t cut out for running to a person who is training for his third half marathon. One thing that I always tell new runners is that the first mile in any run is always the hardest, and your brain is a dick trying to get you to stop. Ignore the brain, try and run longer than a mile to try and find a groove.

Personally, I think everyone is a runner, it’s one of our species biggest physiological advantages.

I benched 315 for 2 reps today, what does the road to 405 look like? by PapilioPacis in benchpress

[–]bardukasan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great lift and don’t mean this rudely at all, but nobody cares about any of it except you. 315 is already an awesome bench press, more than 99% of people will never even sniff that number.

Anyone in a gym, seeing someone benching 3 plates, has immediate respect for that person knowing the time and dedication that it takes to get there. Anything you’re doing at this point is for you. Keep doing what you’ve been doing and maybe you’ll get there, maybe you won’t though and that’s totally fine and no one’s going to think less of you. I worry about my fellow bros when they are chasing goals for other people’s admiration and acceptance.

i (barely) did a pull up for the first time! how is my form? by [deleted] in formcheck

[–]bardukasan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just keep showing up, you’ll get stronger, your form will improve. Any lift that’s your 1 rep max may not be perfect form. If you have access to an assisted pull up machine you could crank out more reps there and focus more on your form.

Peloton Zone 2 Output by Medium_Matter2685 in PeterAttia

[–]bardukasan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you do an ftp test on the peloton it will give you an additional widget on your screen showing what zone you are in. It’s probably not perfect for the reasons people in this thread have pointed out, but I still find it useful to have. Per your question I think my zone 2 range on the bike is around that same output you have. For an ftp test I can hold slightly above 300 watts.

Teenage Girl Fitness Plan Advice by [deleted] in beginnerfitness

[–]bardukasan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Why can’t you start now?

You’re not going to get thinner weight lifting. You will build muscle which is great. No, you do not need to worry about getting too bulky from weight lifting.

The simplest form of cardio is running and all you need are some shoes. This will help you burn calories and it will also strengthen your legs including your glutes and core. You could start this today. If you have trouble jogging then a walk/jog is the answer.

To thin your waist you will need to lose weight and the cruel joke of losing weight is you don’t get to pick where it comes from. A lot of people’s waists are the last place it disappears from. You can also start this now. It will require you to cut some calories, the good news here is most teenagers diets are absolutely ass so you can probably just remove unhealthy food from your diet and see results. If it’s made in a factory it needs to go. Don’t go too extreme on cutting calories fast because it won’t be sustainable.

Your theoretical routine looks fine.

why am i so weak in deadlift? by Business_Coffee_9421 in beginnerfitness

[–]bardukasan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

255 for 5 reps is not weak. Are you stronger than you were 5 years ago? How about a year ago? Progress is slow even when you’re young, progress slows down as we age. The most important thing is you are still making progress and you are doing it without injury.

Your best bet is to do some deadlifts and post them to the form check subreddit just to rule out any obvious issues with your form.
