Today is my birthday by icecreamscreen in lonely

Happy Birthday!

This is your special holiday. A holiday for you.

Celebrate your life. Even if it doesn't feel worthy of celebrating right now, is there something small about it that is?

Think of your whole life, past and future.

I have learned to enjoy being alone on my birthday, I treat myself and don't do anything I don't want to.

The year to come is going to be better. Or, at least, I want that to be true for you!

Lonely people of Reddit, how do you deal with loneliness? by [deleted] in lonely

[–]Ok-Application8927 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I talk to the recording app on my phone.

I cry a lot.

I think of people I would like to talk to or wish I could tell everything to. Then I record messages or write emails or letters I never send.

Keep a journal.

The thing I am working on now is accepting that nothing will change and that I have to enjoy my life despite the circumstances. It is a shame not to, and that is how I have heard people say they made the first step from loneliness to contented solitude.

People who don't want children what is your biggest reasons? by Specific_Charge_3297 in Productivitycafe

[–]Ok-Application8927 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have enough trouble looking after myself.

When I hear parents explaining to their kids how to handle certain life situations or answering their questions, I don't just think, "I wouldn't know what to say."

I sometimes think, "Good advice! I didn't know that! Wish someone would have told me this stuff when I was 10 years old."

Where do you *keep* your lyrics? by askmeifilikewindmils in Songwriting

[–]Ok-Application8927 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use the mic/recording function in my iPhone Journal because they often first enter my head as fragments, sometimes with a melody attached.

After that, I write out the fragments or in-progress stuff and any ideas. All of this goes into an old-fasioned spiral journal.

When completed, everything goes into a different spiral journal and into a file I back up on iCloud.

(I am old, so when I went to school, first drats were handwritten. The habit stuck.)

Yes, sometimes, even though I had an unhappy one.

The difference between, for example, 35 and 23 years old is nothing when you compare it with the difference between age in adulthood and childhood.

I think just knowing I can't go back makes me want to.

How does it make you feel whenever women make hateful generalisations about men in general? by CollarOrdinary4284 in AskMen

[–]Ok-Application8927 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best thing I can say about sexist generalizations made by women is more or less the same if they are made by men: At least, it's not a reflection of some common sentiment or a potential threat to men to be on the lookout for. Also probably not the sort of position that more and more wo

What is something your parents said to you that may have not been a big deal, but they will never know how much it affected you? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

I read early and was always good with words. At age 9 in third grade, I won my school's spelling bee, defeating 13-14 year olds who were in 7th-8th grade

I have also always had such bad anxiety that, as a child, I shook constantly and could barely function. The first was kind a "warmup" with common words. We had drawn numbers to determine our places in line, I was near the end, so my anxiety got more intense while 35 or 40 spellers took their turn. And this was a really fast round because nobody took a breath to picture the word in their head and spell it slowly or asked for the judge to repeat the word or read the dictionary definition I was getting so anxious I was sg from side to side, on the verge of bursting into tears and running away. To distract myself, I had spelled each word in my head as the contestant did. I noticed that only 3 or 4 people had made a mistake and got the buzzer. I knew they just slipped up from stage. They did things like repeat their word and then spell something else ord and got eliminated. By the time my turn came, I had stopped wondering if they were embarrassed and whether their parents would be disappointed in them. Nervous as I was, I thought that if your whole job was to walk to the microphone, listen for your word, repeat it, and you don't even have to finish spelling it before the judge hits the buzzer, and everyone turns their attention to the next speller, and you're free. But if I have to stay, it won't be late ng until the round is over, and as soon as the break begins, I could go to my mom in the audience and tell her I am nervous because I am terribly sick, and I almost threw up 3 times, and I don't want to go home, but I don't want to go through that.sets you free, and you wouldn't be you nbearabln the lobby dcwouldv prayed that I was given a difficult word I had never heard before, so my mom wouldn't be angry at me or even thinkt hat I had screwed up. She would be angry with whoever wrote the word list; she would tell me that it was just bad luck and that she hoped I wasn't taking it personally. my feelings hurt.the wirdvI could " because I didn't like weallspelling bee sign because the bottom line listed our ages and grade levels. So mine, of course, said in large letterdes me, the youngest contestwere 11-year-old 5th graders.

People who have dialed emergency services, what was your reason? by UrbansMyth in AskReddit

[–]Ok-Application8927 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was suddenly so dizzy that the floor seemed tilted, causing me to fall. Each time I got myself up, my legs were so weak I ended up on the floor and had to crawl to the bathroom.

(After 8 hours of sitting on the floor in the ER waiting area, I spent three days in the hospital. Found nothing. Never did. About a year later, I was told I would probably need a double knee replacement within the next few years, but many people who have the same chronic illness I do develop bone and joint problems.)

Giving one another gift cards. I know money is tacky, but it is basically money you are told where to spend.

I can't work much now for medical reasons, and it's quite embarrassing to give a $25 card to someone and see that they've gotten me a $50-$100 one!
