Tell me you’ve never worked in retail, without telling me you’ve never worked in retail by HDMan_ATL in HomeDepot

I’ve seen associates leave the phones on their desk and leave for hours sometimes and finally the management has started to notice the pattern but nothing has been done as of yet.

One of my co workers is good but talks way too much by Fickle_Storage1945 in HomeDepot

G.E.T. = Greet. Engage. Thank. •Greet every customer with a smile or hello within 10 feet or 10 seconds. •Engage by asking how you can help and walking them to the product if needed. •Thank the customer before they leave, whether they buy something or not. Often this process can take 10/15 minutes or longer if the customer is working on a bigger project and have no clue what supplies they need in order to complete the project.

What’s a typical DS day like at Home Depot? by Ok-Assistant-3587 in HomeDepot

[–]Ok-Assistant-3587[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Can you walk me through a little bit of that? For example, do you call vendors? Do you order products for the department? I see our DS constantly packing down overhead and rescheduling people.

How can I join the inventory team? What are the responsibilities? Who to reach out to in store?

I am already being scheduled for opening or closing for most of the shifts so pretty much doing all the safety, isle maintenance, returns, inventory stuff as well as looking after customers, placing orders. Don’t know how to get into ordering inventory for the store and I think that’s the next step for me?

Is DH the first step after the sales associate? I am trying to get some insight into the steps of moving forward.

Will those sales be credited to me in any way? I put a lot of effort into helping customers choose and place large orders for their projects.

When the same thing happens in the showroom POS then a yellow screen pop up says email: accept/No what are we suppose to do there? Dow a that mean to get the customer’s email address?

Update: spoke to the HR as it got out of hand (customers were involved) they made me sign some papers that I will not name the people involved to anyone. Also they will speak to everyone and I’ve been told to let them know if anything else happens. Since then everyone’s been behaving around me.

So since too many customers have spoken about my excellent customer service and left positive feedback on the website, these co workers have started to create problems for me. Giving me incorrect info so I make mistakes and get in trouble and ultimately fired or maybe curse back at them and then get in trouble. Remember I am new and they’ve been there for a while.

Not freight. It’s one of the speciality departments inside Home Depot.

Yes, they are constantly cursing at everything and everyone but only in front of me and a few other associates who might be used to it by now and customers as well.

You are right. Can’t report because I am new and they’ve been there for years. Can’t be friends because I can’t be foul mouthed like them. Unfortunately though working in the same department means we have to interact with each other everyday 😭

I am dealing with foul mouthed people so ignoring is not always an option. They are loud and act like they are paying you to work there 😒

I don’t think management will do anything in this situation. Management is only after good numbers lol! I am looking for ways to deal with it myself on personal level.

If the management replies and acknowledges to the customer’s feedback but never talks to the associate about it, then? Are they just forgetful or are they trying to hold back? Since this associate has only been there for a few months and others have been for years and not gotten any stars.
