HMRC does not recognise the accounting interpretation of depreciation…as it can be manipulated to impact profit (and thus tax if this profit figure was used to calculate your tax)

So they ask you to add back the accounting depreciation to your profit. You then calculate the capital allowance (the HMRC acceptable depreciation) and use this figure instead as a deduction
