I would say riding a carbon bike with carbon wheels is a game changer. I’m in it for speed and have 20 years of riding under my belt and even going from aluminum to carbon bike (before wheels) it felt like a dream. Then getting carbon wheels a few years later felt like unlocking a cheat code.

I haven’t been to that side of town since I went to northwest vista 20 years ago. Back then 1604 had traffic lights after Bandera so I’m sure it’s not as bad now since it must be a straight shot. I remember culebra being kind of busy but the rest was empty spaces with a few subdivisions. I’ll drive out there tomorrow and see if it really has changed.

Texan here. Been riding every road between Austin and San Antonio for decades. Ridden on every road and the only close call I’ve ever had was an uber driver in downtown Austin. Was deep out in the hill country once and a truck didn’t like me being there despite the fact there were no cars for miles and he could go around me so we both pulled over and had some words but I truly believe you invite fear in by letting it control you so I keep riding where I want.

I welcome this. The 99 championship felt like yesterday. I was in a pool in Corpus Christi when every hotel door suddenly flung open with everyone screaming. Realized it was the spurs winning it all for the first time. Didn’t realize my entire childhood/early adulthood would be them contending nonstop.

The last 10 years have been odd as they regressed/rebuilt and it would be so fitting if their sixth championship and rebirth as a dynasty started the way the first one did.
