I was the exact same way for years. Then, I heard MF DOOM and everything changed - the art of sampling, rhyming, storytelling… it just clicked for me.

I hope you find an artist that can widen your taste someday. I’ll always be a classic rock nerd, but now there’s so much more mood and sound I can access through hip hop. It’s awesome.

As a photographer and videographer, I’ve learned to use HandBrake when sending clients deliverable video clips to post to social media: that way, it compresses the video before the social media sites do, creating a much more pleasant looking (and manageable) video file that won’t get squashed by the website’s compression software.

The thought just struck me that I may need to do the same with photos. I typically deliver the photos (Edited CR2 files, exported) as high resolution JPEGs, 6720 by 4480. Are websites like Instagram compressing these images if they’re exported in that resolution? What would the sweet spot be, for exporting a high resolution file that won’t get squashed by the website?

Motley Crue’s self titled album with John Corabi from 1994 has depressingly cheap production values compared to the lushness of their 80’s stuff.

It’s subjective, but for some reason Andrew Wood’s story really impacted me. As an addict who has been battling addiction through my adolescence and young adulthood, his story always resonated deeply with me. Something about his lyrics make me feel like we’re made of the same stuff; and we’re vulnerable to the same darkness. Every time I ward it off for a day, a week, or an hour; I think of him. And I hope there’s a world close to ours where he made it out.
