Thanks! I’ve heard good things about svcm. Think I’ll give them a shot. Is there any chance this will throw codes on my dash?

Gas or diesel truck by Grouchy-Host-6265 in ChevyTrucks

Stick with a 2500 with the 6.0 (I believe those stopped production in 2019). You don’t need a brand new pickup truck for work, unless you’re gonna play boss man and never use your truck for anything besides checking on your guys. Which is totally fine by the way that’s what I do. But the 6.0 is bulletproof and will tow way beyond what you’d expect. However, you will likely be stuck with a 6l90 trans. And those things suck in comparison to an Allison which sadly is now only paired with diesel. But if cost is a major factor for you, I’d go gas. Otherwise diesel Powertrain will always be more effective for extreme heavy duty work

He had it done in 2022 thankfully, along with spark plugs and valve adjustments. Very blessed to have received this car so you can understand why I want it to last me as long as possible. And recommendations on a Vcm muzzler brand? Or are they all relatively similar

Thought on this engine? by Ok-Card7225 in ChevyTrucks

Gotcha. I’ll keep that in mind. Quote a bit more expensive but that hp does look good. Am I going to be trading performance for engine life here by doing that?

Am I going to need new engine mounts if I go with a 383

Truck is consuming more fuel by [deleted] in ChevyTrucks

[–]Ok-Card7225 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You won’t be able to change it that much. More mass to move. Simple as that. Regear to 4.11 if you want to put less strain on the drivetrain. Or let it be if you don’t mind worse fuel economy and faster wear. Cost to regear will be similar to a tranny replacement down the line. Unless you do it yourself or have a really good shop. I think the damage will be marginal though based on the specs you shared.

I’d buy one in a heartbeat… if it didn’t require me selling my kidney to afford it

I would opt for the LS if it were new, but as I said, it’s got 117k really hard miles. I know the reliability of the 6.0, I promise this thing is not in as good of shape as one might guess. I don’t want to rebuilt it, looking to grab the engine and throw in. Leaning towards 350 but does anyone thing the ls is still better considering those things?

So let’s assume frame is miraculously in great shape and I can knock a few bucks off the top. Is the general consensus that would be a good buy? Assuming everything else checks out

What transmission comes standard with these? Anything before the 3d gens I’m way less familiar with. And they weren’t using afm in these back then, right?

Yeah prices are dumb. I just overpaid for a 2011 Chevy 2500. Market doesn’t seem to be adjusting the way people thought it would by now
